A lazy Saturday and a car break-in

What a lazy Saturday afternoon. There’s a slight drizzle outside, the weather’s warm and sticky and the clouds are looking pretty heavy. The rain’s probably gonna come pouring in…it looks like it’s already raining cats n dogs in some parts of KL.
Had our second golf lesson this morning. I finally caved in and bought two pairs of golf skorts (skirt+shorts?)…=) I mean, the whole point of playing golf is the smart attire, right? Lesson was fun…had some problems with my posture which Roger (our instructor) quickly corrected. Apparently my backswing is OK now (was previously twisting my arms too far behind), just have to concentrate on following through the swing properly. There’s something really satisfying about watching the ball fly off nicely. Though the furthest I can go is abit past 50 yards!! Downside to having fun whacking the golf ball is that my wrist now feels as if it’s been twisted…ouch!
We had lunch at 1920’s @ Bangsar Village after our golf lesson. They really know how to make a good spaghetti. Nothing too fancy…just plain ol’ spaghetti with basil, tomatoes and garlic, but it tasted heavenly. Plus their mini-sized black forest cakes…I was totally stuffed. Happy, but stuffed. Anyways, was reading this magazine that had an article on Pete Teo and his album Rustic Living For Urbanites. I was pretty intrigued by the write-up so made a mental note to check out his website when I got home. Which I did, as you can see by the link above. I also found the Music Canteen website and I’m currently downloading a total of 15 songs - 10 by Pete Teo, 3 by Jason Lo, 1 by Juwita Suwito and 1 by Mei Chern - (cost me a total of RM45, which is a pretty good deal considering that you get to preview the songs and choose the ones you want to burn into your own CD!). It’s being downloaded one by one so thank god for broadband!

There are some stalls set up in the concourse area of Bangsar Village selling all kinds of stuff, and one of the stalls has bags from Lulu Australia. Damn…was I tempted or what! Been eyeing the bag on the left for some time now, but at the same time, trying really hard to save up for my Hong Kong trip. Speaking of which, I’ll be flying off on Monday with hubby and my parents for a short 4D/3N trip. Shopping it is! On my wish list: a casual bag for weekends from Gucci, a structured working bag from < a href="http://www.louisvuitton.com" target="_blank">Louis Vuitton, and a passport holder, coin purse and card holder also from Louis Vuitton. That’s all. Nothing much. Right. It’s not called a wish list for nothing. That’s all I’ll probably get to do…wish. Of course, donations to my shopping fund would be most welcomed.

I’ve also been hankering after this digital camera by Sony. Although our Canon Powershot has served us well in the past 3 years, it’s getting kinda bulky and heavy to carry around. What i really want is something slim and small…like this gorgeous Sony Cyber-Shot, DSC-T3. 5 mega pix, 3x optical zoom, 17.8mm thick (or rather, thin) and 146 grams. So far, the cheapest deal was one my colleagues, TI, found in KLCC. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I might find a better deal at the airport or in HK.

And to fulfill the excitement quota for the week: Hubby’s car got broken into over the last weekend! We were attending a company function @ Ceylon Hill and he parked right in front of the restaurant at the side of the road. When we left at about 9pm, the left passenger window was smashed, and TI’s backpack was stolen. So off we went to the nearby police station to make a police report. Furthermore, her purse was in her backpack together with her IC, driving license, etc. On the bright side, on Monday, a taxi driver found her ID card and actually brought it back from a petrol station in Gombak all the way to Citi. As for those idiots who broke the window and took the backpack…getting a few hard kicks in the groin is too good for them. Bloody stupid SOBs.

If you have been to our The Next Chapter website, you might have seen a panoramic photo of the view from our balcony. Well, for the past 2 months, the gorgeous greenery at the right of our apartment has been totally demolished to make way for some low rise privately owned condo. It’s really an ugly sight! Worse of all, looks and sounds like they are currently clearing the ground and breaking some rocks (or something equally hard!) cause all we’ve been hearing from 8.15am onwards everyday except Sunday for the past one month or so is a constant ‘bang bang bang bang bang’ from the machinery. It’s enough to drive a person crazy!! Since then, every time we drive past that site, I’ll be muttering under my breath “Please let termites and rats swarm that place and please god let it rain continuously for the next few months and flood the site and render their machines unworkable”. Sigh.

From the looks of it, the house opposite our apartment is hosting a dinner of some sorts tonight (probably a wedding?). Tents have been set up since Thursday evening and when we drove past today, the tables and cutlery have all been arranged. If if doesn’t stop raining by this evening, the guests will be squelching around in soggy shoes!
Well, the rain’s finally letting up now. Off to pick up my car from the workshop. A loose belt/pulley/something near the engine has been causing a rattling sound that’s making my mum really nervous hence the check-up at the workshop. RM800 out the window. Easy come easy go, indeed. I just received my contractual bonus, and about 30% has gone to pay my stupid taxes…what the?!?!?

How true.
