Baking spree

Today is Federal Territory Day…which means…HOLIDAY!! And only for people working in the Federal Territory…muahaha….*grin*

After a long break, finally went for yoga on Sunday afternoon. Unfortunately, the studio, Jiva Yoga, was having an open day so the yoga class was shifted to the morning. Did get a chance to try out pilates using those big giant balls though…and considering it was only a 30 minute trial class, my abdomen and thighs were pretty sore the next morning!

After coming home from our failed attempt at both yoga and pilates, I decided to try making Apple Buns. Was really not satisfied with my last attempt at bread making! This time, I used a recipe book written by a local chef. And surprisingly….it turned out pretty well! If you are interested, click here to get the recipe.

Apple buns!

Had dinner at Ikea cause I wanted to buy a new pillow…mine was getting quite flat and non-springy (am also trying to see if the pillow is causing my neck to get strained thus causing that bothersome headache….). Dropped by at my parent’s place to pick up some fruits, 14 boxes of pineapple tarts (Chinese New Year pressies for my team-mates at work!) and to drop off 4 apple buns for them to try. My mum took a nibble and said…”at least this one has the texture of bread”…hmmmm…ok…the first attempt two weeks ago was really that bad!! After that, it was off to the driving range. I’d stopped golf practice for about 2 weeks…and it really shows! My first few practice shots totally missed the tee, and most of the shots sliced right and left. Must endeavour to practice more before the next lesson, else I’ll probably get a good scolding from our coach!!

Reached home just in time to watch The Apprentice 2 on TV3. The winner of the first season, Bill Rancic, appeared in this episode, filling in for George. This week’s task was to open and manage a restaurant. Team Apex’s project manager, Jennifer, was extremely annoying in this episode…as one contestant commented: all talk and no walk. In the end, Apex lost to team Mosaic due to their decor and service. During the board meeting, Carolyn totally blasted Jennifer…and you could see that all three judges were pissed off over Jennifer’s constant interruption when they were talking! When given a choice to select 2 or 3 of her team members to follow her back into the boardroom, Jennifer selected 2…Stacy and Elizabeth, while letting Sandy, who was in charge of the decor and therefore should be held partly responsible, off the hook. Immediately, the judges knew she was bringing Stacy and Elizabeth in due to personal conflicts even though she kept on denying it. After a few minutes of bickering (Stacy & Elizabeth vs. Jennifer), Donald Trump made his decision (which he later commented “I feel good”) and said: “This is really easy. Jennifer, you’re fired!”. And roll the credits! =)

Work on Monday was pretty mundane, with exception for TI’s snack of cherries, lychee and a tiny little pear! (see picture…the dog is the size of a Beanie baby….that’s how tiny the pear is!!!) And partly thanks to her, I consumed a total of 8 different fruits in a span of 2 hours…: guava and honeydew (ok, it was freshly squeezed juice…but fruits nevertheless), pear, lychee, cherries, nectarine, jackfruit and banana!! After work, Eric and I headed off to Midvalley’s Kim Gary for dinner…unfortunately, they didn’t have the spare ribs mushroom rice that I liked so much on the menu, so I had to settle for noodle with pork and preserved vege soup. The restaurant was packed and it took some time before our food arrived. Surprisingly, the noodle turned out to be pretty nice. Hung around MPH for awhile after dinner, then hubby and I took off to Bistretto at Plaza Damas for ice cream…yummy! Back home, I practiced my Bazi chart plotting and read through 2 face reading books which I bought over the weekend. It’s pretty interesting what you can tell from a person’s face. And it apparently mirrors your Bazi/four pillars chart as well!

Woke up at about 10 this morning…it’s so fun to know that most people are already hard at work and you’re still lazing about in a warm bed!! That’s mean, I know. Still…

Dropped by Bangsar Village to buy some groceries for lunch. Reached back home, tied up my hair, rolled up my sleeves…and off to work. After 3 hours in the kitchen…we had chicken pie for lunch and apple crumble for dessert. Apple crumble is my usual idiot-proof dessert…it can never go wrong!

While I was busy with my chicken pie, hubby went off to Sungai Buloh in search for plants. He came back with this cute assortment of cacti to place at shoe bench outside our main door.

Taking a break now before going off to 1 Utama for some Chinese New Year shopping. I can hear the rain outside and the weather’s nice and cool…awfully good for taking a short nap….=))

Hubby’s prickly little desert

10.00 pm
Couldn’t find any nice clothes. This always happens when I’m in the mood to spend money…I can’t find anything nice to buy! Had dinner at Good Evening Bangkok…pandan chicken, japanese bean curd, overly spicy tom yam soup and water chestnut and jackfruit dessert (one of my favourite desserts!). 1 Utama’s Chinese New Year deco looked like a Chinese fortress…high walls, imposing doors and a chinese pavillion.
