Edit (1 Oct 2005): Serves me right…should not jump to conclusions too quickly. A misunderstanding on both ends. The picture was sent to her by another friend, so she used it without knowing it actually belonged to someone. Audz, apologies for this entry…I’ve taken down the photos. I just read all your comments actually, as I was out the whole day…=)

Hey hey….while surfing today, I stumbled across a website (on the right) which had a familiar photo in the user profile…(the webbie on the left is mine…hmm…which reminds me…I need to update this page!)

The Last Unicorn

Thu, 29 Sep 2005, 11:51 pm

Does anyone remember the animated movie The Last Unicorn? I came across an article in boingboing.net regarding the book by Peter S. Beagle, and nostalgia just hit me. It was one of my favourite movies when I was a kid next to The Neverending Story (the first one, not the sequel). I remember wanting to BE the unicorn! *grin* And there was this riddle near the end of the movie that came from a talking skeleton or clock or something that I used to be able to remember…word for word.

Anyways, I Googled it, and found that there’s going to be a remake of the movie, due sometime 2006! Not much info on the website yet, but I’m definitely gonna be on the lookout for any updates.

Mirrormask

Ok…maybe I’m a little behind time…hehe.

A film written by Neil Gaiman? Check it out at Sony Picture’s official site here, and Apple trailers here.

While I’m not a huge fan of Neil Gaiman (and by that I mean that I have not read all his books nor the entire Sandman series), I was introduced to his work by an ex-bf who IS a fan…he lent me his Sandman comics and I found myself drawn towards it. Fast forward many many years later, I found myself picking up a book of short stories by the above author, Smoke and Mirrors, and I fell in love with some of the stories in there. My favourites are ‘Snow, Glass Apples’, ‘Changes’ and ‘The Price’. Stories with a little twist…just enough to make them stay in your head. Brilliant.

A blog binge

Thu, 29 Sep 2005, 11:07 pm

Wheee….just had my second drum lesson today! I left the studio with a big smile on my face…it was so fun! One hour just doesn’t seem to be enough! Who wouldn’t love having the freedom to bang on stuff with a wooden stick? *grin* And on the way out, I bumped into J’s younger brother whom I’ve not seen in years and years. I used to have a teeny tiny crush on him when I was about 13? 14? *blush* Anyways, he didn’t quite believe me when I said I was learning drums…hmppph…what’s so unbelievable about that?

Dropped by at BSC to collect hubby’s slides from the photo shop, and bought a few pieces of cakes from Strudels. Did you know that they have a buy-4-get-1-free promo? The offer is just too good to resist…so I usually end up with more cakes that we can eat. This time, I bought two chocolate mango cakes (not nice…just tried it…the chocolate was hard like hmm…it was hard lar), a creme brulee specially for hubby, an orange chocolate one which I’ve tried before and liked, and a chocolate coffee one that I didn’t really want but since it was free…

Spent the whole day in front of the computer…playing with Photoshop and reading other people’s blog. And yes, I did my targeted two-old-post-transfers-per-day today (Feb 8 and 10). I also devoured entry after archived entry at Jay’s blog, www.isorule.blogspot.com (thanks to sunbabies for introducing)…I like his writing style very much, and it’s really humorous. Spent almost two hours non-stop reading all his archived entries! *eyes paining* And geekchic is back too…so spent another one hour or so reading the posts that I missed.

Hubby came back early yesterday, so we managed to watch The Myth at GSC @ Midvalley last night. As with all Jackie Chan shows, you get a little humour thrown in with his inventive kung-fu. Overall, the show wasn’t all too memorable. The storyline was rather choppy at parts and some parts felt as if it didn’t even belong in the story. And I don’t get the same feeling of awe at the cinematography as when I watched Hero and House of Flying Daggers (oh, how I love watching Zhang Zi Yi). But certain scenes did touch my heart…like watching the stern face of the general (Jackie Chan) trying to hide his love for the princess who has been sworn to the king but would rather die because she cannot be by the general’s side…swoon. Such a hopeless romantic, I am. I think deep down (in some of us), we want a love that is fraught with this type of drama…the I-love-you-but-I-can’t-have-you, so-I-have-to-give-you-sidelong-glances-for-the-rest-of-my-life-while-you-marry-a-tyrant type of love. It’s just so…so…sigh. I can’t think of the right words to describe it. Ah yes…so drama.

Anyways, the rest of the day has been rather dull. Really looking forward to tomorrow! Hubby will be coming back during lunch time to have lunch with me *happy happy joy joy*, after which, I will finally get to see M’s Bucky, attend a card making session, have a mani/pedi, and enjoy dinner at Ms. Read’s Delicious @ Bangsar Village. Hmm…I think I’ve mentioned that in yesterday’s post. Nevermindla…excited mar. Now…what should I wear?

U r da bomb, baby!

Wed, 28 Sep 2005, 11:34 pm

This is too cute not to blog about. Thanks to M for the heads up…(I don’t know how this girl always finds fun things like these, but she does!!!).

Article copied from the original webbie here.

bomb.jpg

The baby sister of the Les Amis Group, Canelé Pâtisserie Chocolaterie celebrates its 1st anniversary with a ??BOMB? this 22nd September.

The Bomb is Executive Pastry Chef, Pang Kok Keong??s latest explosive offering. Made of mousse and chibouste (a very light custard), using Valrhona Grand Cru Manjari (64%), crispy pearls which are little round chocolate seeds coated with feuillitine, chocolate pain de gene (a traditional French almond cake) and dotted with flakes of fleur-de-sel, the Bomb is an unorthodox creation that ambushes one??s palate with a myriad of tastes and textures.

Once you bite through the bomb shaped chocolate shell, the crispy pearls explode in your mouth, triggering a decadent rush of pleasure that only the finest chocolate delicacies can evoke. This is only the beginning of the journey.

Indulge in other Canelé offerings like crunchy pearl truffles (70% St. Domingue dark ganache) or the crunchy pearl tablet bars (either 35% milk or 70% St. Domingue). The genesis of the pearl truffles, Saint Domingue dark chocolate ganache, gives a vinous fruity flavour, which is spicy and dense. The Manjari used for the bomb is a ??Grand Cru? chocolate with traces of Criollo, which is considered one of the rarest in the world. It offers powerful notes of cocoa, with hints of red fruits, is slightly tangy and exceptionally long on the palette.

Head down to Canelé to discover our exquisite homemade chocolates. As part of our anniversary celebration, a 25% discount will be given for purchases above $30 on a single receipt from the 22nd to 24th September.

By reservation only. The Bomb will only be available from 19 ?? 25 of September.

Serves 2 : $10.00
Serves 12 : $70.00

Looks (and sounds) good enough to fly to Singapore to eat!
