The last weekday

Fri, 14 Oct 2005, 07:48 pm

….

to sleep in.
to read the newspaper leisurely.
to wander aimlessly around the apartment in my PJs the whole day.
to eat lunch at 11am. Or 3pm. Or not.
to watch tv in the middle of the afternoon.
to go for drum lessons in the middle of the week, in the middle of the day.
to surf net the whole day.
to play around with Photoshop.
to drop by at my parents’ house any time of the day.
to go to Midvalley/1 Utama/The Curve/Ikano/etc. in the middle of the day.
to not have to fight for parking lots at the abovementioned shopping centres.
to cook dinner for hubby.
to go to bed at any hour I want.

How fast time flies.

How fast things change.

I’ve just finished watching (and crying over) Love Actually…for probably the 3rd or 4th time since I bought the DVD. I totally love this show…nine love stories in one movie…absolutely perfect for a love-buff like yours truly. My favourite five from the nine…:

1. Mark (Andrew Lincoln) secretly loving his best friend’s wife, Juliet (Keira Knightley) from afar.
2. Jamie (Colin Firth) rushing all the way back to France to propose to Aurelia (Lucia Moniz) in broken Portuguese…I love how even though they don’t understand each other’s language, they seem to say the same things.
3. Young Sam (Thomas Sangster) rushing through the airport to say goodbye to the love of his life, Joanna Anderson (Olivia Olsen).
4. Sarah (Laura Linney) admiring gorgeous Karl (Rodrigo Santoro) from afar…and when she finally has a chance to be with him, she has to give him up due to her ill brother.
5. The Prime Minister (Hugh Grant) falling for Natalie (Martine McCutcheon)…he ends up searching every house on the street for her when he finally realizes that he loves her.

The scenes between Mark and Juliet totally kills me everytime I watch this movie…the expression on Juliet’s face when she realizes that Mark is secretly in love with her, the expression on Mark’s face when he realizes she knows, the way he walked to and fro after he left his flat…wondering if he should go back in, the totally heartrending and heartwrenching message he wrote and showed her on Christmas Eve…I cry buckets everytime I reach that two scenes in the movie…*sob sob sob sob sob*. And Keira Knightley just glows in this role.

And yes, I know it’s only a show. But something in it just touches me deeply. Perhaps it’s the bittersweet romance between Mark and Juliet…what could have been but will never be. Or that type of deep love that you really only ever see in movies and read in romance storybooks. *swoon* But don’t you ever wish that, just once…just once in this lifetime…you could have the chance to experience this type of love? This type of feeling?

Well, that’s probably why I fit the ideal demographic profile for a romantic movie buff…I’m idealistic, and a hopeless romantic. And probably why shows like these…Love Actually, Kate & Leopold (*drool*…Hugh Jackman), Sweet Home Alabama (love the scene where Melanie’s fiance, Andrew, steps aside like such a gentleman!), Winter Sonata (*drool again*…Bae Yong Jun…can’t wait for April Snow to reach our shores!), Ever After (the scene where Danielle walks into the ball with her silvery wings), How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days (Kate Hudson in that gold evening gown…gorgeous!)…remain in my all-time-favourite-movie list because I’m just such a sucker for romance…=)

Hmm…I have a feeling I’m gonna spend tonight watching one of the above shows…*grin*

Learning Photoshop

Tue, 04 Oct 2005, 07:57 pm

Since I’m kinda lacking of entries to post, thought I’ll post some photos instead. I bought this book called ‘The Photoshop CS2 Book for Digital Photographers’ by Scott Kelby (editor of Photoshop User magazine) about two weeks ago, and I’ve been having lots of fun trying out the tips and tricks in the book on our Melbourne photos.

So here are three photos that I’ve played around with for your viewing pleasure…=)
