Yet another flash flood…

Fri, 25 Nov 2005, 04:11 pm

We were on our back from a buffet lunch at Sunway Lagoon Hotel (free! thanks to a voucher from D, hubby’s colleague) last weekend when hubby decided to use the New Pantai Expressway after seeing the number of cars jamming up the exit to LDP. It’d started drizzling when we left, and by the time we were on the expressway, it turned into a full-blown thunderstorm, complete with magnificent lightning flashes.

We were nearing our exit at Angkasapuri, when we saw the cars in front slowing down. Hmm….traffic jam, on a highway, in KL? Nothing surprising. However, this time, it was a total standstill, and then…one car started making a u-turn and drove off in the opposite direction ON THE SAME SIDE OF THE ROAD. Yes…against traffic. What we originally thought was a small traffic jam turned quite chaotic when other cars decided to follow the lead of that driver. From our rear view mirror, we could see cars still travelling down the highway, yet there were two lines of cars going the opposite direction…honestly…it’s surreal!

After waiting it out for some time, we saw more and more cars making u-turns. People from the cars in front started getting out and walking further upfront to see what was causing the jam. One guy asked a motorcyclist to drive up front….so the rest of us waited for him to return. He came back in less than a minute, and spoke to the guy, and when he drove past our car, I wound down the window and asked “Apa berlaku?” (What happened?). His reply…: “Banjir!” (Flood!).

Ah. Flash flood….but on a freaking highway?!?!?!?!? Unbelieveable!! Unable to wait any longer, we too made a u-turn and saw other cars following suit. In the end, we had to drive back all the way to Subang (paying double the toll along the way…) and guess what…ended up taking the LDP after all.

That’s horrible! I simply abhor traffic jams!

    Was buffet good?

Me too…traffic jams are so stressful!!

And no…buffet was not good at all. Quality has sadly deteriorated…the only thing I liked there was the ice-cream…haha…yes, that sad. Or bad.

Something to say?
