Hubby brought me to Midvalley this evening cause I wanted to go to MPH to buy more of Jodi Picoult’s books (ended up buying four! Yes…four!) and a MNG top (ended up buying five…*hides receipt from hubby*). And since we’re not working tomorrow *smirk smirk*…we made an impromptu decision to catch a movie. And since hubby let me choose, I decided on Gubra…Yasmin Ahmad’s latest show and the so-called sequel to Sepet.

As much as I would like to ‘review’ the show here, I know my writing will not do justice to the film, so I’ll keep it short and sweet:

It’s a wonderful show, do watch it if you’ve watched Sepet…do watch it if you haven’t. It draws you in and captures your heart. The loving relationship between Orked’s parents is a delight to watch and Orked, or rather, Sharifah Amani, is as luminous as she was in Sepet. And the parallel story of the Muslim cleric, his wife and the prostitutes was absolutely touching to watch. While it was somewhat strange to watch two storylines that were not interwoven, each individual story is potrayed so well that you feel like you’ve gotten a great bargain by paying for one show and getting two great ones! I really don’t know what else to write (snippets of the show are still floating around in my head!)…save this: Do watch it. It’ll make you laugh (oh…it’ll really make you laugh! ) and cry and FEEL.

Anyways…

…do check out this review if you’re interested…tiny spoilers ahead though: Click here.

And, urm…according to some reviews that I’ve just read, you should stay till after the end credits. I didn’t know so we left as soon as the credits started rolling…darn it. If anyone does watch the show, do drop me a note and let me know what happened at the end, yah!
