My mum and I went to try Delicious’s Afternoon Tea this evening at 1U. We went at about 3.30pm, and surprisingly, the place was still quite full…probably the late-lunch crowd. We ordered the Afternoon Tea set for two (RM49…or was it RM50?) as well as two cups of Earl Grey tea. The service was abit slow, not sure if it’s because there is insufficient staff, or the staff are inexperienced (same problem at the Bangsar Village branch as well).

Anyways, our food finally arrived, and boy…for small eaters such as my mum and myself, it was alot to consume for tea! It looked more like tea for four than tea for two…=)

The first tier consisted of a cream-covered dessert, two small tarts (I think it’s banoffee pie), two tiny pieces of chocolates and four skewered strawberries with chocolate sauce in a really small, cute bowl. The second tier had three scones with jam and cream, while the bottom tier consisted of tomato, cucumber and smoked(?) salmon sandwiches (two each), egg sandwich with a small scoop of caviar, and two small savoury tarts. I felt full just looking at it!

We both dived straight for the scones as it’s best eaten while it’s still warm. The scones were buttery and crumbly…I didn’t try the cream, but the scones definitely went well with the jam. The strawberries were nice and sweet, and since my mum doesn’t eat strawberries, I got it all to myself…=) Unfortunately, the chocolate was abit too hard for me to dip the strawberries in…I had to use a knife to scoop it out and spread it onto the strawberry instead. I didn’t like the savoury tart, but my mum found it ok, so she inherited my share. As for the sandwiches, the tomato sandwhich was ok, while the cucumber sandwich was a bit dry. Don’t eat salmon and didn’t try the egg, so can’t comment on the remaining two.

By the time we declared ourselves stuffed, we still had the cream-covered dessert, two small tarts, one piece of chocolate and four sandwiches left on the tray…so we did what all M’sians do with leftover food…ta pau lor…=)
