Still tired

Mon, 18 Sep 2006, 10:35 pm

Ugh. What a horrible afternoon it has been. I was tired, had a headache, felt feverish, couldn’t keep my eyes open. Left work at 6pm. The car was hot from being under the sun the whole day. My throat’s itchy, so everytime I direct the aircon towards my face, I’d sneeze. Push the aircon away, I felt like I was baking. The sun was still up and getting into my eyes. Everyone was driving too slowly, it just took so long to get home.

Took a shower but I still don’t feel better. I think I’m just going to go lie down and watch telly till I fall asleep.

But first, another rant. I so totally hate the area my office is in. The people there just gives me the creeps…errr…I mean the people in that area, not my office. It’s the way the men look at you, in that sleazy way. And they’re all dirty and greasy looking. Just makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. And while I was walking to lunch today, some guys in a Kancil rolled down their window and shouted something to me…though I couldn’t decipher what they said, it definitely did not sound like they were asking for directions.

And there are so many buses, with the fumes and the honking and the road hogs, and the motorcyclists and the taxis. And and and…one evening, I was driving out from the open car park (which charges an exorbitant amount every day!), and because of the jam on the main road, I was stuck at the exit of the car park. And this guy, he just walks up to my car, knocks on the window while motioning me to wind it down (think I was born yesterday izzit???) while speaking to me in Chinese…either Mandarin or Cantonese. And he kept on asking me to either wind the window down or let him into the car! Luckily, I managed to turn onto the main road, but I was so freaked out that he would follow my car that I kept checking the rear view mirror. *shivers*

But it’s the people, the people!! I know I’m probably stereotyping…ok, I am…but…eww. ML told me that when he was schooling (yes, he’s young, I’m old), some guy threatened him with a knife! A KNIFE! And he’d witnessed a robbery before where this woman got bashed with a helmet(?) till her skull cracked (ML, you better not be making all this up just to scare me!!!). Hubby refuses to let me walk alone…he says I might just get kidnapped anytime, even in broad daylight. And in this country, sad to say that that’s a possibility.

So, Jacjac, I now agree with you…stay right where you are. Even though lunch costs more, and the shops at KLCC lure you to shop, at least you’re SAFE. And parking just costs RM126 per month as opposed to RM21 per day. Someone remarked to me once when they found out how much I was paying for parking each day: People work to eat. You work to pay parking. Well, compared to taking the LRT or parking in some dark, covered, super-unsafe car park where I might get robbed, kidnapped, raped, killed in that order (touchwood la)…I think RM21 is well worth the convenience of the car park being right next to my work place, close enough to the building security guards, right out in the open, and the sight of two friendly Indian parking jagas who smile happily at me everytime I hand over the money.

Damn, I hate this part of KL.

Nites, people.

mwahahaha… kisah benar di sekitar kuala lumpur…
At least you had your doors locked when the guy knocked on your window…
Poor old me, was driving home from school one day, was under the lrt track near your office, and voila, i had a passanger in the car next to me! Turns out, he entered the wrong car… hehe…
Better not tell any more kisah benar stories… otherwise… you’ll still a probie right? hehe…

    Hi!

Sorry to hear that you’re not feeling well. With how the weather is now: hot, cloudy, rain, hot, cloudy, chilly. Doesn’t help that there’s occasionally a blanket of haze over KL too.

In the car, what I normally do, is to position the aircond vents up towards the roof of the car and blast the air cond. So the car gets cooled quickly and it doesn’t go to your face. You could also try to use the mode where the air blows to both your face and your feet as the air exiting the vents won’t be as strong.

KL is a crazy place. Especially your work place. I agree with you. Those creepy people that stalk the place. Sometimes I get nervous too. I think best you be extra vigilant in that area. Your hubby is right! Never walk alone there! Watch your belongings very carefully too. If people call out to you, probably just take a quick glance and walk away lah. Ignore, ignore, ignore!

Once my dad was waiting for the traffic lights to turn green outside Berjaya Times Square. He made the mistake of not locking his car and before you know it. This guy opened the passenger door and sat inside my dad’s car! He asked for some money and luckily my dad had some in his breast pocket. He gave him RM30 and the guy left immediately. Imagine that! In broad daylight! In front of many other motorists!

So sad that we need to live in paranoia now.

Work from home! :P I would too if I didn’t need the damn lab. Then, i don’t need to attend so many meetings, fight on the roads with motorists. Yea! I hate this place too! :)

    Carrot: Don’t worry, I will!

Pixelator: Yeah, apparently the flu season is back! Sh*t…your dad’s experience is scary! Nowadays, when driving back, I’m even scared to leave my bag on the passenger seat. If I remember, I’ll put it on the floor…who knows if someone might just smash the window and grab it while I’m stuck in a jam?!? You’re right…it’s sad that we have to live like that. The funny thing is that this feeling of paranoia wasn’t here say, 10 years ago. Or at least not that bad. And it’s not only crime like this, but even simple things like stopping at traffic lights. You see motorists just happily driving across the road without a care in the world, even though the lights are red! And now policemen are asking for more $$$? Where are they when these sort of things happen?!? Man…this is turning into another rant. I’ll stop here. :-)
Geekchic: Haha…I would love too, unfortunately, my job requires me to access data at work… :-( Though I don’t think I’m disciplined enough to work from home…haha…I’ll probably end up making jewelry instead of finishing up a report or s’thing…*grin*

I second Pixelator! KL is a crazy place! You better becareful. Remember to lock your door once you enter your car, don’t wait for the auto lock, some only works at 20km/h! If you’re walking alone to your car, get your keys ready before heading out to the car park! ohh yea… and I hv a pepperspray hung with my car keys too!! Better be safe than sorry… Not after e ’sunroof in my room’ incident!! Take care!!!
    *hugs*
