At Ipoh this weekend
We left KL early this morning as hubby had plans to meet up with a friend at 1pm. Made a quick stop at McDs to buy brekkie, and off we went. The weather was thankfully cloudy, and the two hour drive went by really quickly.
We reached Ipoh about 12+ and stopped by at Ipoh Swimming Club for lunch. I had shrimp cocktail…

…chicken sandwich (the old skool style where the sandwich is cut into triangles, and the chicken meat is still in strips with lots of margarine…pics later!) and orange juice.

And my favourite banana split…though it didn’t taste as good as before. Less nuts and chocolate sauce. Oh well.

After lunch, hubby dropped me at the house where I spent half an hour pottering around before finally going to bed. Yes, BED. I’ve been so tired the past few weeks that I declared this weekend is gonna be my stay-in-and-rest weekend. I slept the whole afternoon away, literally! By the time hubby got back at god-knows-what-time, I was still groggy and grumpy from sleep, and lazed around in bed till 6pm! By then, if I didn’t get up, hubby would’ve probably rolled me off the bed as we had dinner plans with friends at 7. Took a quick shower, changed, and off we went to pick up KK and his wife.
KK brought us to a new tai chow place for dinner. We had to wait quite some time for the food as the place was quite full. By the time the dishes arrived, I was really really hungry, and I eagerly dug in. We had kung po mantis prawns (I’ve really gotta Google this one day to find out exactly what they are!), fried vege, fish slices with ginger, fried egg with prawns and lotus root soup. I stuffed myself silly…the food was hot, tasty and abit shy la, but I was the last one to put down my fork and spoon…hehe…
And guess what? Dinner only cost RM42! And no, I don’t mean per person…
After dinner, we went to Kinta City where we spent a good 15-20 minutes searching for a place to park…it’s like the whole of Ipoh descended upon the shopping mall! We finally found one right infront of the entrance, thanks to KK’s sharp eyes! The reason we came here was to buy mooncakes from Foh San (they’d set up a stall at the concourse area)…IMHO, they have the nicest red bean mooncake, ever!

Hubby also picked up a couple of boxes of my other favourite mooncake thingy…Heong far biscuits. It tastes like the mooncake skin without any filling…

…and it’s very nice for a teatime snack. This year, the biscuits were individually packed…how convenient!

While hubby mulled over what flavours he wanted, I headed over to the payment queue firstā?¦it was freaking long, k?
After we’d paid for the mooncakes, we spotted some people eating soft-serve green tea ice-cream…and as we both absolutely love soft-serve green tea ice-cream, off we went on a miny treasure hunt to find the shop. Finally found it in front of Speedy Video and despite being so full, we both had one cone each!
Dropped KK and his wife off before heading back home…am now waiting for hubby to take his shower so we can continue our Grey’s Anatomy (Season 2!) marathon…
Oh, and did I mention I’m curi-ing someone’s broadband?

Cheekypumpkin: Ohh…my hubby loves the baked crab as well. Will keep in mind that Pusing Seafood place…for all I know, he has taken me there but I blur blur cannot remember…
I remember going to Chemor for dinner once though…the food was so damn good. And of course, so damn cheap!
Pixelator: The ice-cream was pretty good, but the cone was abit crumbly. Yeah, it’s damn hard to find soft serve green tea ice-cream around here…
Carrot: *oink oink* And this little piggy is STILL tired!!

Ahh..soo cheeky pumpkin is from Ipoh, eh?

ALl those you mentioned? Comfort food to me. I remembered a particular horrifying breakup. I cycled at break-neck speed to ISC. I grabbed the menu and rattled off a huge order right at the counter. My coach came up from the pool and said,”WAH, you having a party all by yourself and never invite me!”
I love ISC. You should make use of the sauna. I love it a lot too. Oh, try also the fried rice (order fried rice special. Gives you a bulls’ eye and you poke it so that the yolk drizzle all over the rice.), the wat tan hor is pretty good and I’m getting my catering done from them for my ROM!

Geekchic: Fried rice? Ohhh…must try the next time I go back. I always end up ordering the same stuff coz it’s like I don’t have much opportunity to eat there so I don’t want to end up ordering something that might not be nice, hence waste that chance of eating something that I’m sure is nice….if you know what I mean…hehe…

Hi Wong…
Yup, my hubby is from Ipoh! Urm…I’ll have to find out the Chemor place for you…coz it was my hubby’s friend who brought us there. All I know is we had to go through lots of dark roads, and the restaurant has an attap roof and one air-conditioned room…hehe! Btw, congrats on your wedding!
