Blame it on Coach

Sun, 08 Oct 2006, 11:28 pm

I originally went to DFS Galleria to check out the Coach Soho Tweed wristlet that I’d been eyeing since I saw it on their website two weeks ago:

It looked nice in the pic, but not that great in my hands coz the beige was more of a ‘dirty’ beige and not that easy to upkeep. And the price wasn’t that nice either…mucho expensivo compared to the US price.

So, I walked off. A little disappointed.

And walked past Dior.

And spied something pink.

Made an abrupt 90 degree turn and walked right in.

And fell in love-at-first-sight with this:

The Dior Trotter romantique flap bag in logo. IN PINK <-- very important!

I'd last seen something similar in my previous trip to Singapore sometime in February, but it was velvet, and in beige and brown. Was very very tempted then, but beige and velvet is not easy to upkeep (ok ok, I know pink isn't, either!!).

But this! Apparently, only DFS Galleria carries it in pink (we'll know when I drop by the Dior boutique in KLCC) coz it's a special edition or something...plus point! There were another three bags with the same logo design...one was quite big and square with a flap, another one was much smaller, squarish with no flap, and the other had a wide bottom which tapered towards the top. I spent a good 20 minutes there trying on all those other pink bags. But this one still made the cut...it went perfectly with the white casual capris and low heels I was wearing on that day, but I can imagine using it for night functions as well...double plus point!

So...deep breath...swipe swipe...and off I went, skipping all the way to Lucky Plaza where I promptly tried - and failed - to hide the Dior paperbag from hubby. No scolding though...own money mah!

Oh, and I blame it on Coach coz if the wristlet was much nicer and cheaper, I would’ve bought it and would’ve considered it my ‘great find’ in Singapore (hubby and I have this thing where we have to have a ‘great find’ in places we visit…it might be big, small, expensive or cheap but we must have one!) and that would’ve been that.

But then…this is much better! *hugs bag*

What I did at Singapore

Sun, 08 Oct 2006, 10:11 pm

Foodwise:

  • Dinner at Din Tai Fung - absolutely fabulous Xiao Long Pau
  • Lunch at Crystal Jade - love the Char Siew Pau
  • Dinner at this seafood place famous for it’s chilli crabs near the Merlion - for me, the ‘Porky and Bessie’, which is fried pork marinated with some chilli, garlic and dark soya sauce and served with steamed mantao, is hands-down the best dish we tried that night
  • Desserts at NYDC - we had the Cookie Monster but I still find the Muddy Mud Pie at Coffee Club the best!
  • Lunch at Marmalade Pantry - Crab Caesar and Sticky Date Toffee Pudding with Vanilla Bean Ice-Cream that’s literally to-die-for!
  • Dinner at some spaghetti place at Paragon - Pretty good Crayfish Spaghetti Aglio Olio (the bruschetta sucked, though!)
  • Lunch at the 1st class lounge at Changi *eyes open big-big like some super jakun person* - free Evian, Haagen Daz, Ben & Jerry, liquor, and food food food!
  • And of course, peanut pancake at Jollibean!

Shoppingwise:

  • Went to Takashimaya, Wisma Atria, Wheelock Place, DFS Galleria, Lucky Plaza, Paragon, Heeren, Funan.
  • Bought a Dior Romantique Trotter bag in pink! (separate post with photos later)
  • Found a bead-shop at Heeren that had me swooning - bought a crimping plier, bead board and bead reamers. Wanted to buy more, but no $$ and no space in the luggage. Will definitely be spending an entire day there the next time I’m at Singapore!
  • And hubby bought an Xbox 360. Hah.

Others:

  • Watched World Trade Centre - review later, but in two words: It sucked.

Am broke, tired, grumpy and not particularly looking forward to going to work tomorrow.

And no, I’m not telling the real reason why we were in Singapore. And no, none of the above were the real reason why we were in Singapore. Those were…urm…side-effects… :-)

Off to Singapore

Thu, 05 Oct 2006, 11:42 am

Will be joining hubby in Singapore today till Sunday, so no blog posts till then.

And I kinda cheated while he wasn’t around. Yup, I did. I cheated on him with Dr. Derek Shepherd. I couldn’t help it…it’s his bedroom eyes and smile and the way he talks and the way he looks at Meredith with those long, lingering, I-want-you-but-I-can’t-have-you looks.

*swoon*

I think I could go on and on and on about how great this show is, but then, everyone knows how great this show is, so I’ll just shut up. Besides, I need to go pack… :-P

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Oh, and it sucks that Oct 23 is a holiday only for civil servants. Sucks sucks sucks. *stamps foot*

Never shop on an empty tummy

Mon, 02 Oct 2006, 08:13 pm

Stopped by at Midvalley on the way back from work to redeem my SKll points and ta-paued TWO Sister’s popiah (you know the one where they sell at a kiosk in front of Speedy video) for dinner. Damn semangat somemore wanted to buy an additional burger from KFC coz my tummy was growling like crazy (I only had chee cheong fun for lunch…err…actually, it was two cheong fun, two fishball, one fu chuk and three ladyfingers…*blush*). But KFC was closed for renovation, so I went to Leonidas to buy some of my favourite chocolate coated orange thingies (scoffed down three choccies on the way home)…

…and the result of buying food on an empty stomach…

img_0542.jpg

…cannot finish dy!! So full can burst. Luckily I didn’t buy the burger.

*******************************************************

And on to something completely unrelated to food…

One of my USB ports has gone to electronic heaven. It just won’t work. And it’s extremely irritating coz everytime I want to upload photos from my camera to my laptop, I have to unplug my mouse, and I hate using that whatchacallit-trackpad thingy.

*******************************************************

And on to something completely unrelated to USB ports…

I totally totally love Grey’s Anatomy. We’re at episode 10, season 2 and I’m so extremely hooked. Love it love it love it.

*******************************************************

And back to food…I bought some mooncakes from Mandarin Oriental the other day…

img_0485.jpg

Pandan essence with almond paste for hubby…

img_0487.jpg

Bitter chocolate with cinammon and orange bits…(sorry for the mess, the chocolate cracked into bits and pieces the moment I tried cutting it)…
img_0490.jpg

Milk chocolate with peanut butter and rice puffs…
img_0493.jpg

Verdict: Ok (nothing special), pretty nice (the bitter chocolate offset the sweetness of the orange filling), and not too nice (too milky for my liking…I’m a bittersweet kinda gal). Don’t be fooled by the photos though…it’s so freaking small and even more freaking expensive. About RM8 - RM9 for a piece that’s about 1.5 inches in diameter.

*******************************************************

Another random thought. I want to change the radio in my car. I’m currently using the one that came with the car, and I think when we upgraded the amp when I first got the car, something short-circuited, and everytime I switch on the radio while driving, a high pitch whine can be heard coming from the tweety birds. Err…tweeter. Sorry…I always call ‘em tweety birds. Anyways, since I’m driving to work every day now, the sound is really getting on my nerves. KK recommended Pioneer…will probably go check out the website.

*******************************************************

The popiah is still lying there looking all soggy and miserable.

*******************************************************

Ok, enough rambling and babbling. Off to watch ANTM…hope it’s not a recap episode!

Toodles.
