The Amazing Race Asia

Thu, 09 Nov 2006, 10:17 pm

Woohoo…!! Can’t believe they chose to start the race in KL! It was an absolute hoot to watch…and our uniquely M’sian everyday things sure chose to rear it’s ugly head during the show:

1. Taxi drivers that rip people off
2. Roads with no proper signage
3. Roads that disappear all of a sudden…(haha…that was a damn good comment by one of the contestants)!
4. Roads that are closed to construction
5. Ever so helpful people who just tells the contestents to go left left left left left left left and then walks away halfway while giving directions!

And it’s just so different from watching the usual (and already very stale) Amazing Race. For one, you don’t hear the typical American accents, and especially in this episode, you get to see familiar places actually on the big screen (I even saw the bread shop near my office that I usually go to!!).

Of course, I found myself rooting for the two M’sian girls…though I found Aubrey and Jaq really fun to watch. Imagine wanting to pay the taxi driver with a hug and a kiss. Hmm.

Allan Wu, as the host, seemed abit stiff in this first episode…hopefully he’ll loosen up a little bit along the way. And the prize of US$100,000 seems to be such a small amount compared to the US show which offers a prize of US$1,000,000…but then again, I guess the experience of taking part is something that you’ll remember for life!

Go, M’sia!

    Carrot: Thursdays, AXN, 9.00pm…

Geekchic: You swim?!? Not possible…fair people don’t swim! Fair people don’t go to the beach either! Nyeh! :-P :-P

Merv: Survivor KL will have contests like who doesn’t get diarrhea from eating hawker food, who can travel from A to B without losing their way or driving into a closed road or police block, who can successfully get a speeding ticket without being asked for a bribe…heheh… :-) Memalukan is right!!

I swim and I play a lot of games too la darling. I love the beach but those jellyfish-infested ones in Penang are no-no la. :)
