New Zealand: Looking back
The 14 days we spent in New Zealand was unforgettable. The country is truly breathtakingly beautiful…

For me, this holiday was even more special as it was the first time since graduating that both hubby and myself could fully enjoy a holiday without thinking of work or the office. We just went there and had an absolute blast. We settled down in a routine of waking up, packing, loading the bags, me navigating and feeding hubby with food and drinks as he drove, listening to the CDs that hubby had recorded before we left KL…I really really treasure the time we spent together over there. The sights that we saw, the jokes that we made and laughed ourselves silly over, the taste of the food, the cold, crisp air…only both of us knows how it feels, and those are memories that I am thankful I had the chance to create.
If you ever do go there for a holiday, I strongly encourage you to self-drive. The routes are easy to plan, there are maps and directions aplenty at the major airports and iSite centres, and the road signs are a breeze to follow.
Here are some of the websites I used when researching for this trip…:
1. The Official Tourism New Zealand Website: This is a great site…I used this website the most…to plan the routes, search for basic information about the areas we were going to visit, etc.
2. Great Sights: for excursions and city tours.
3. Backpacking New Zealand
4. Four Corners, New Zealand Holiday and Travel Guide
5. New Zealand Tourism Online
6. Great hotel booking website
7. Fuelsaver: Calculate how much you’ll need to spend on petrol!
8. Wises: Street Guides and Maps…extremely useful
9. Maporama: More maps
10. Dayout: Maps and walking guides
11. Dine Out, New Zealand’s Leading Restaurant Review & Listing Website
12. Restaurant.com
13.Menus.co.nz, Auckland and Wellington Restaurants
14. Cuisine.co.nz: Another foodie website
15. Eatout.co.nz: Yet another food website
16. Information on Wellington
17. Information on Christchurch
If we were to go back again, I think we’ll love to spend a couple more days in Queenstown to try out all the activities over there. One day, someday, hopefully!

Can you tell me how much you have spend for the 14 days trip to NZ? I really like to visit NZ one of this day. Did you get yourself the cheap fare?

Hi Choonie, the $$ really depends on the hotel and car rental that you choose…it’s cheaper if you go in a group of 4 coz the cost of the car and petrol gets shared out. We travelled via Air New Zealand, but our plane fare covers KL-Auckland, Wellington Christchurch, Queenstown-Auckland and Auckland-KL, so I don’t know how much the actual fare from KL-Auckland-KL costs…
I know people who spent $6k and some > $10k, so again, depends on where you choose to stay…
