…I swear this will make your day!

I’ve been having a sore throat.

Correction, I’m still having a sore throat. More accurately, the right side of my throat near my ears hurt. And my ears have been taking turns to be blocked for the past three days. Yes, taking turns. It’s like…left ear: blocked, right ear: unblocked. The both ears blocked. Then one ear pops. Then gets blocked again. It’s been driving me crazy, and rather worried that my sore throat has caused an infection in my ear canal. And it feels like I’ve been living with my head in a fish-bowl for the last three days.

Anyways, I went to see the doctor yesterday, and he said that while my throat still looks sore, my ears doesn’t seem infected. And he sent me off with a dose of antibiotics consisting of gigantic orange capsules.

For some reason, I had no problem swallowing one after lunch yesterday.

But last night was a different story. I *thought* I swallowed the capsule. After all, I didn’t feel it stuck in my throat or anything.

Give or take 5 minutes…

I felt a burp coming. So I burped. Guess what came up…seriously…guess!!

A cloud of white powder! Poof! Like someone waved a powder puff around like a crazed woman. Right in front of my face.

For a moment there, I was stunned. Then I realized…SH*T…that’s my antibiotics coming up! The damn capsule must’ve dissolved going down my throat while leaving the powder behind. And then I felt the sensation of thick powder coating my throat and bl**dy choking me. I ran for the water tumbler and started downing cup after cup of water. I drank so much I threw up…not fun, seriously, not fun at all.

And for the life of me, I couldn’t get the damn powder to *unstick* itself from my throat. At that point, I was frantic. I know…sounds abit drama-queen right now…but the thoughts that were whizzing through my incoherent brain was…is this gonna burn a hole in my throat? Am I gonna overdose on the powder?

I tried hot water, glucose, sweets…NOTHING could make the taste and sensation of the powder disappear. It was utterly horrible. And the worst thing was, my throat was burning…don’t know if it was from vomiting or from the powder. Finally, the only thing that made it remotely better was after I tried gargling with salt water. And that was pretty horrible…try imagining the taste of dissolved medicine with salt water swirling in your mouth…yuckers!

Anyways, as I sat in the living room later still trying to get the medicinal taste out of my mouth, it occurred to me how bizarre the whole experience was.

I mean, who burps out a puff of antibiotic powder? This can be my superpower! Beware of the girl with the ability to burp a cloud of deadly antibiotic powder at her whim! ;-)
