Real life drama!
Hubby had a late meeting this evening, so I ended up waiting in the office for him to finish. I was getting rather peckish and decided to go down to Coffee Bean at the lobby to get a muffin. That was around 6+pm. When I got to the ground floor, I saw a couple of people standing in front of one of the lifts…and as I glanced over on my way out, I saw the lift door was opened…and the lift was stuck halfway in between floors! I could see people’s feet, and some of the lift passengers were sitting on the floor looking mighty pissed (it was time to go home, after all!).
Anyways, I got my muffin, went back upstairs and told my colleagues the interesting sight I saw. Went on with my work till hubby called at around 7.30pm. He was on his way over…yay!
While I was packing my stuff, I heard some sirens…but it’s nothing out of the ordinary around my workplace (yeah, dodgy area, I know!). I logged off, got my stuff and rode the elevator down.
As soon as I stepped out of the elevator, I was confronted with firemen and building managers and the head of our HR department asking us to ‘move along, move along people’! Can you believe it? Those poor people were still stuck in the lift!! By this time, there was a crowd of people gathered at the lobby watchin the drama unfold, and I saw one person taking a photo with her camera phone. Ok, I admit, I was tempted to take a photo as well…but…err…not so nice la…deriving entertainment out of other people’s misery!
While waiting for hubby to arrive (and by this time, I was hoping he wouldn’t arrive so soon so that I could continue watching!), I saw the firemen trying to get the passengers out…I hope none of the ladies stuck inside were wearing miniskirts! *grin*
Anyways, they were still extricating people when I got into hubby’s car. Oh…and the minute I opened the door, the first thing that came out of hubby’s mouth was “What’s going on? What’s happening?” Pfftt…looks like I’m not the only busybody in the family!
Come to think of it, this is not the first time we’ve seen some ‘drama-minggu-ini’ (err..roughly translated to this-week’s-drama…) around my workplace. A few weeks ago, I was coming back from lunch with a few colleagues and we saw a part of the road cordoned off, some policemen, and as usual, lots of interested spectators. We couldn’t see anything, but two rumours were going around:
1. A girl stripped naked and went crazy after her boyfriend broke up with her. Waitaminute…sorry, it should be the other way around. Went crazy, then stripped naked.
2. A girl was found wandering around naked after being purportedly raped
Either way, it still involved a naked girl, hence the higher men to women spectator ratio.
Moving on.
And oftentimes while waiting for hubby to pick me up, I’ve seen people arguing across the street, and just yesterday, there was probably an argument going on during lunch time at the car park next to the office. Well, what used to be a car park! What happened was that the empty piece of land was apparently bought by a company to construct another building for the company I work for. And so, the empty piece of land was fenced up and a gate placed at the entrance. And people like me couldn’t drive to work anymore coz other car parks are located too far away (and to think we used to complain about the RM21 per day parking fee!). Anyways, the car park was open yesterday morning and the usual jagas were around. But by lunchtime, there was a standoff at the gate between the jagas and some men in long sleeved shirts and ties…my guess is that the building manager found out that the jagas had started letting cars back in, and they probably went down to lock the gate and got into an argument with the jagas.
The drama!
