There are only two things I like about CNY

Sun, 11 Feb 2007, 06:56 pm

McD’s twister fries and mandarin oranges.

Other than that, I’ll collect $200 and pass GO, thankiuverymuch. If I could only just skip the one week leading up to CNY, and the actual first and second (and probably third) day!

I detest…

The unbearably hot weather (it’s frickin’ hot ok?!? I get a headache just driving out in the sun!).

The ‘just stab me twice and put me out of my misery’ CNY songs.

The utter REDness of the decorations…my office looks like tins and tins of red Dulux paint exploded everywhere.

The traffic jams.

Having to leave KL and do all that pointless visiting!

The ‘cannot wash hair on the first day’ tradition.

Someone please fast forward me to 22nd February when I can escape all this madness!

  2. Comment by carrot on 11 February 2007 @ 11:50 pm

I hate the rushing for the festivities though, everywhere is jam and full of people. Weather does not help at all.

Cheekypumpkin: That’s what I was told since young!! So I’ll rush to wash my hair before midnight on CNY eve, and cheat by running a wet comb through my hair on CNY morning!

Carrot: Hahah…YES I do, surprisingly! It’s so silly isn’t it? Superstitious nonsensical, but I still follow it nevertheless. Same as not sweeping or cleaning the house on the first day of CNY, cannot cry, no bad words…

Zewt: Those I can avoid, avoid lor…

Boo_licious: Yeah, the one week before pretty much sucks…shopping malls are packed!!

LOL!!! if i were to not wash my hair on the first day it would get really itchy, limp and stinky. but i do follow some customs like not cleaning the house on the first day (well, actually, I never clean the house but u get my drift lar).

I know nothing about the cannot wash hair tradition either. I think it’s pretty silly.

The ?Ǩjust stab me twice and put me out of my misery?ǨѢ CNY songs.

Yes.. what’s with the CNY songs? Why can’t they sound a little different every year?
I’m glad that I’m not the only who feels like that about CNY songs.

about leaving KL and pointless visiting?
Well, since everywhere I had to celebrate in CNY in my parents’ hometown in Pahang, I kinda to get used to long driving and all that. Yea, I don’t like it either, but .. have to to bear with it.

Carrot: That’s why I wash right before midnight on CNY eve, and wash right after midnight the day after CNY!

MaN|acZ: Haha…silly is right, same with most traditions, I suppose! But I kiasu kiasi…so dare not wash lor…*grin*
