Die, you annoying spam-thingies
I’ve been getting comment spam for the past few months…and managed to build up quite a long list of common spam words. Still, I was getting 20 odd comments per day, with maybe one or two real comments in between…moderating it was getting on my nerves, so last night, I installed Akismet, one of those anti-spam thingies.
I hope it works…I don’t want to come back four days later to find 100+ comment spam to clear…!
So in the meantime, in case you don’t see your comments appear immediately, bear with me for awhile, k?
And I’ll respond to the earlier comments soon…so sorry! *sheepish grin*

So far for my version of Wordpress (FOC, one) I got hit by one spam comment only. Possibly because my blog is not popular, haha!

boon: Tell me about it! I installed it before going to HK and it’s working like a dream!!
Zewt: Nope, only the spam-y ones gets kept for me to moderate, the other *decent* ones that don’t have spam-y words go through…
Pixelator: Haha…nothing to do with blog popularity lar. I think it’s coz I go around leaving comments here and there, and when I enter my blog address, it prob gets picked up or something. *scratch head*…actually…I’m not too sure, either!

ya,… askimet is the only plugin that geekchic uses on her blog.
and i think the reason why your blog gets ‘popular’ is when you start publishing RSS comment feeds. I think the spiders pick those up.
