A meme on scents

Wed, 28 Mar 2007, 02:08 pm

Got tagged by PinkElle for this perfume meme!

Actually, I posted something similar in my old website more than a year ago (sad to say I haven’t bought any new perfume in more than a year!!)…so all I have to do is to choose my top five and update my comments…*grin*

1. Gucci Envy Me - A surprise pressie from hubby. Love the pink bottle…love it, love it, love it! The scent is very refreshing, and I bought the body lotion as well coz it just smells so yummy! It’s my current daily scent, and I also bought a miniature to keep in my handbag when I go to work.

2. Ralph Lauren Cool - Another surprise pressie from hubby! I’m currently using it as my weekend perfume cause the scent is very light and fresh.

3. Kenzo Flower - I think this was one of my Valentines day pressies…hehe…can’t remember *blush*. Another one of my favourites…used to use this daily before he bought Gucci Envy Me. I still have a huge bottle lying somewhere…might start using this again once I’ve finished Envy Me.

4. Contradiction - Another pressie, but I forgot for which occasion… ;-) I used to use it for special nights out…though nowadays, I usually use Euphoria from Calvin Klein. Still, Contradiction remains one of my firm favourites.

5. Kenzo Flower LeParfum - Love the vanilla-ish smell! As this is more concentrated than eau de toilette, one small drop is more than enough to ensure the scent stays on for the whole day. I recently started using it again on weekends.

To add to the meme, since I did write this in my old post:

The one that will always have a special place in my heart:
Ralph Lauren Romance - I used this perfume on my wedding day together with the body lotion. I haven’t used it for a long time, in fact, it’s almost finishing…but it brings back good memories… :-)

IMG_2149.jpg

And the perfume I love most on him?
Chanel Platinum Egoiste… ;-)

As you can see, I’m not much of a perfume person…almost all of the ones I have are gifts from hubby…*grin*

And as usual, I tag anyone who’s willing to do this meme…!

Food review: Il Divo

Tue, 27 Mar 2007, 09:31 pm

Tried it? Rate it here!

I just got back from a really good dinner and wanted to blog about it asap.

Il Divo is a new Italian restaurant (just opened 10 days ago) located at Plaza Prismaville @ Desa Sri Hartamas. For those of you who know where Fong Lye is located, well, Il Divo is at the row of shops right behind Fong Lye.

The ambience is like most upper-class Italian restaurants, with dimmed lights, starched white linen and candles…simple and romantic. Unfortunately, I forgot to bring along my camera, so I had to make do with my phone (blur piccies later, review first! [Edit: I decided not to put the photos up coz it’s just so grainy!).

We order two starters…sauteed fresh clams in white wine sauce, and scallops with salad and olives. As usual, my memory fails me when it comes to the correct name of the dishes and I’m sure I didn’t do it any justice by just calling it sauteed fresh clams and scallops… :-( Anyhow, the portions were really generous…for us, it was almost like a main course by itself. The clams were very fresh, and the white wine sauce…omg…it was so darn good that I was using the clam shells to scoop it to drink! It came with a little bit of chilli which added a slight tangy spiciness to the sauce that was really nice. And plenty of cherry tomatoes too! :-) I tried some of hubby’s starter (the scallops), but found myself drawn back to mine as I personally found it to be much nicer…*grin*

As for our main course…wow!! Hubby ordered lamb shank, while I went for probably the most expensive dish there…aglio olio jumbo prawns with sundried tomatoes and olives. Hubby gave two thumbs up for his main course…he said that lamb was really tender, and the sauce was really good. As for mine…I’m so totally going to rave about it! For RM60, I got 3 huge prawns that were cooked to perfection, a huge serving of greens, and best of all…plenty, and I mean plenty, of sundried tomatoes. Even though I was feeling really stuffed from the starter, I practically polished off the whole dish, savouring every bite of the prawns coupled with the sundried tomatoes. I had so much sundried tomatoes that after I’d finished the prawns and the salad, I paired it with the leftover bread from the bread basket…*grin*

A main course sized starter and a whopper of a main course definitely meant that there was no room leftover for dessert. I stared longingly at the dessert menu which offered Tiramisu, Pannacotta, Creme Brulee, Chocolate Mousse with Strawberries, and Fresh Strawberries with Lemon, Sugar and Vanilla Ice Cream…oh well, next time, then. This is one place we’re sure to visit again, afterall!

Even though this place is still new, if they are able to keep the quality of the food as good as what we had today, I’m very sure that this restaurant will do really really well. We personally found it to be much much better (and alot more affordable) that those fancy-schmancy Italian restaurants in certain hotels. My only complaint would be the bread from the bread basket was slightly salty. Hubby loved it, though…he almost polished off one whole basket!

Oh, and while we were having our scrumptious dinner, there was this poor kitty cat sitting right outside the glass door, peering in, and mewing really piteously. I was really tempted to bring my prawn shells out for the cat to chew on…but didn’t for fear of being scolded for littering and feeding strays! ;-)

Definitely highly recommended! For those who do try it out, do let me know what you think…I hope you’ll love the food as much as we did! :-)

My weekend slipped past too quickly

Mon, 26 Mar 2007, 02:54 pm

In short…

- Had brekkie at McDs where we bumped into an ex-colleague
- Collected my car from the Honda service centre
- Tested the all new Honda CRV (it’s huge…I felt like a midget sitting in it!)
- Grocery shopping at BV, cut my finger while trying to be macho by using a basket to carry 6 small and 2 big bottles of mineral water, 1 big bottle of 100+ and 18 packets of packet fruit juice…
- Tried a new place for dinner (food is so-so only so won’t bother to recommend)
- WS&M came over at night for a spot of Wii (I got vanilla beans from M all the way from Aussie…thanks, girl!). They brought over a bottle of mead! While I don’t drink almost all types of alcohol, wine included, I found I could stomach at least a few sips of this as it was pretty light and sweet. But just a few sips… ;-)
- Roti pisang at Kayu @ Alam Suria where little bugs kept on skydiving into my roti…*wails*
- Lunch with friends at Penang Village (the food quality has really gone down…no, wait…let me rephrase that. The food quality is gone. Hah.)
- Unexpected stop at Puppy Cottage
- Foot reflexology and a very vigorous massage in the evening…now I know how pizza dough feels like!
- Dinner with parents @ La La Chong…absolutely, positively yummy food!
- Grey’s Anatomy season 3 marathon (thanks for downloading, KK!)

And it was all over in a blink of an eye. Sigh.

4.5 more days and counting.

Puppy Cottage

Sun, 25 Mar 2007, 03:35 pm

After lunch at Penang Village with a friend and his fiancĂ©e, we stumbled across a newly opened pet shop along Lorong Rahim Kajai 14 (same row as Maybank, facing Villa Flora apartments). As they had just opened a week after CNY (or was it before? I forgot!), there weren’t many dogs in yet…but they had an absolutely adorable 5 month old Yorkshire terrier for sale.

The owner, Ryan, was around and he spent some time talking to us. We also got to see his lovely King Charles spaniel!

Although we’re not in the market for a dog right now as we’re staying in an apartment, we might be in a few years time. And I really like the look of this place…it looks clean, bright and cheery, plus they do grooming, boarding, and they also have a dog day-care centre! Ryan is very friendly, and it was nice of him to take time out to talk to us, plus from my first impression, he seems really knowledgeable about dogs and very sincere about procuring good, purebred dogs.

Definitely a place I would keep in mind if we were to get a dog…hopefully, in the near future! :-)

Do drop by if you’re around the area:
