Hong Kong: Where did we go for good food?

Sun, 04 Mar 2007, 01:11 am

Ok dokes…here’s a list of the places we went complete with addresses (Titan, guess I won’t need to reply your email!)

1. Hui Lau Shan can be found almost everywhere, but there are two near the Peninsula:
a. Midway along Haiphong Road
b. Along Salisbury Road, the end nearer to Harbour City

2. Portugese Egg Tart and Macau Restaurant:
Shop A & B, Ground Floor, Lokville Comm. Building, 25-27 Lock Road, Tsim Sha Tsui
Tel: 2366 8148
Opening hours: 6.30am - 2.00am

3. The red bean thingy is along the same road as the Macau Restaurant.

4. My favourite char siew bun is from a bakery along Hankow Road (the end nearer to Haiphong Road…I think it’s the second last store along the road).

5. Krispy Kreme donuts…we bought these at Times Square shopping centre at Causeway Bay. I think the store is situated on floor B2.

6. The Sweet Dynasty:
Ground floor, 88 Canton Road, Tsim Sha Tsui
Tel: 2199 7799
* If I remember correctly, the restaurant will be shifting to 100 Canton Road *

7. Mun Kei Tim Pan
4th and 10th floor of Langham Place, Mongkok

8. Aqua
29th and 30th floor of One Peking Road,
Peking Road, Tsim Sha Tsui

9. Yung Kee Restaurant, famous for the roast goose:
32-40 Wellington Street, Central
Tel: 2522 1624

While we didn’t have the opportunity to try out these places, they come highly recommended:

10. Kau Kei Gau Nam for beef noodles
Ko Fu Kai/Gough Street, Central

11. Lin Heung Low for dim sum
Wellington Street/Aberdeen Street, Central

12. Opia for Asian/Australian food
At Jia Hotel

13. Luk Yu Tea House
24-26 Stanley Street, Central
Tel: 2523 5464/63/65

14: Shui Hu Ju for Northern Chinese dishes
68 Peel Street, Central
Tel: 2869 6927

Coming up: The rest of the pics we took in HK!

    Soo Yin,

A little late, this comment (I just read this entry). Your hubby sounds like someone who love meat. For the best “Ching Tong Ngau Lam Fun” (Clear broth beef brisket noodles), he has got to try Dai Lay Restaurant on Electric Road, Causeway Bay. Just get of the MTR at Tin Hau station, and follow the road signs. Really to die for!

Garrett: Hiya, thanks for the heads up! Will add it to my list if we ever go to HK again. And yes, my hubby is a meat lover! :-)
