To fly off somewhere again
I love going on holidays. I love the planning, selecting the hotels, searching for places to go, to see, to eat.
I really want to go off for another holiday again, even though we just got back from HK two weeks ago. Right now, I would love to go to (in no particular order):
1. Maldives
2. London
3. Margaret River, which was so charmingly described by Chubby Hubby
4. Singapore!
5. Sydney, again
6. Bangkok/Koh Samui
7. Denmark
8. Switzerland, again
9. New Zealand, again
10. Korea, but not Seoul
11. Bali
12. Japan, again
13. Paris, again
…and the list goes on.
I want to spend one to two weeks in each place, to explore at my own pace. I can imagine being on a beach holiday, lying on the bed watching the fan turn lazily, going for a spa, watching the sun set or rise. I can imagine being on a city holiday, walking the whole day, trying new food, seeing new sights. Most of all, I want to bring my camera along to capture all the amazing scenery that I will be sure to see, to freeze a little moment in time for me to bring home and treasure.
I love the excitement of the night before…packing till past midnight, getting little sleep, yet waking up bursting with energy coz you know you’re going off on another ‘adventure’ again. I like the routine of reaching KLIA, checking in, having the same breakfast (everytime!) at McDs. I love boarding the plane and hoping that it’s not a full flight, that there are good shows to see along the way. I love getting another stamp on my passport. I love the feeling of not knowing exactly how the weather will be at the place that we’re going, of not really knowing if we’ll stumble onto some *great finds* (every trip MUST have a great find!). I love finding souveniers to bring back for close friends and family.
I absolutely hate coming home. The last day usually sees me feeling and looking very depressed. I would pout and tell hubby…”It’s over…
“. I hate stepping out of KLIA into the sweltering humid weather that is KL. I hate unpacking. I hate doing the laundry. And I hate knowing that this particular holiday has come to an end and not knowing when we’ll get to fly off again.
For me, travelling is an escape from the reality that is life here. It’s an escape from the monotonous dreary day-in-day-out work. And it’s the unlimitless possibilities of what you will see, find, eat and experience *there*. And it’s the shared memories. I can never describe the feeling of driving through a totally quiet and empty road in New Zealand while being surrounded by snow capped mountains, crisp cool air, and 只對 說 playing on the CD. But hubby knows.
If I had spare cash (and lots of it!), I would spend it on travelling. I would stay a month in every and any place that takes my fancy. And if I had unlimitless spare cash *dream dream*, I would travel first class with matching monogrammed Louis Vuitton luggages! But right now, I would be more than grateful for a chance to spend a short time in some of the places I’ve listed above.

Oh what fun to meet a fellow traveller who thinks the same!
There’s nothing better I’d love than to have 2 weeks to a month to just soak up the place, to shop and eat in the local markets, enjoy the sunshine in a park, explore museums or just sit by the steps of a gorgeous building and do nothing. Alas, like you said, unless we come with a neverending bank account, we can only travel within whatever means we have! Happy travelling and may we someday find our dreams

Anonimo: Wow! Good for you!
I would rate NZ prob 8 out of 10 among the countries that I’ve visited (and among the places I visited in NZ, I love Queenstown the most!). But seriously…to decide between NZ and Japan is a tough choice. If you’re planning to go sometime in June/July, which was when we went last year, I would definitely say NZ coz the South Island is just beautiful when it snows! Hope that helps, somewhat!
