Sticky gooey yummy peanut butter

Mon, 12 Mar 2007, 07:42 pm

Hunger pangs struck.

Smucker’s Goober Peanut Butter and Grape Jelly stood invitingly in front of me at one of aisles in Village Grocer.

I couldn’t resist, I really couldn’t.

The minute I got home, I tore of the plastic wrapping, took out a piece of soft fresh white bread and eagerly unscrewed the jar.

(And showed remarkable restraint by taking a photo first)

The first bite was heaven…particularly so when your tummy is screaming for comfort food. I savoured the gooey buttery feel in my mouth mixed with the sweetness of the grape jelly. I love how it sticks to the roof of my mouth as I eat it, and how it melts into nothingness. I ate it at the kitchen counter, with the jar still open…just incase I wanted more.

I love eating it with white bread…peanut butter on one half, and margerine on the other. I love love love eating it with a banana…one bite of a banana, one spoonful of peanut butter. I love it plain (creamy, not chunky), or with grape jelly like this one, or with chocolate stripes.

It’s a anytime-of-the-day food. Breakfast, lunch, tea, dinner, supper.

So how do you like your peanut butter?

In the past, prior to studying in UK, I would only take creamy peanut butter. I remember my mom even sending peanut butter over from Msia! *haha*

Then, I found out my pastor uses the crunchy peanut butter from Tesco to make his superb satay sauce!!!

We went shopping in the middle of the night one day (Tesco 24hrs!)…and since home brands are MUCH cheaper, that was went I tried the crunchy/chunky peanut for the first time - remembering how good it tasted…and yummmmmmmmmmm!!!

Never looked back ever since. *hehe*

Love love Goober Grape Jelly Peanut Butter! I used to dig out all the jam and leave the peanut butter behind as a kid! :p But when I was a student in Oz, I loved thick peanut butter on one slice of wholemeal with thick jam on another slice. Eaten together - heavenly! Throw a banana in between in a it’s even better! Btw, try toasting your peanut butter sandwich for just a couple of seconds. The warm, gooey peanut butter is really something out of this world!

Goober Peanut Butter is so great! I bring home a jar with me every time I go to Malaysia.

I like my PB like you - smooth and creamy. I like eating it spread on slices of crisp, tart Granny Smith apple. Yum!!

    Tsu Lin: Oops…*grin*

Fer: Hmm…I’ve never tried chunky/crunchy peanut butter before, actually. I automatically go for creamy coz that’s what I’ve been eating since young!

PinkElle: Thanks for the tip! Never thought bout toasting it before, actually!

Anonimo: Hey…that sounds like a great combi too…the saltiness of the cream crackers should balance out the sweet jelly!

Hannah: Wow…this is a first…peanut butter with apples? Kinda reminds me of toffee apples actually! Another interesting combi for me to keep in mind…thanks! :-)
