Edit: Here’s the phone number of the restaurant if you want to find out how to get there or make a reservation…05-201 1033/012-588 5939. Thanks, KK!

We went to Ipoh this weekend for Qing Ming (All Souls Day) and quite alot of eating!

Thanks, KK for arranging dinner and desserts on Saturday! :-)

On Saturday night, after the guys had whetted their appetite after badminton at ISC (I was at home snoring peacefully), we took a long long drive to Chemor to this hut that passes off as a tai chow for some really good and cheap food. The last time hubby and I went there was more than a year ago, and the food was as good as I remembered. Luckily, KK managed to get the air-conditioned *room* (which was basically an extended awning with wooden boards as the walls!), so we had dinner in relative comfort! WL was back from Sydney for holidays, so he joined us for dinner as well.

Anyways, piccies!

Ready for food…
ipmar07_002.jpg

Tea, anyone?

Steamed eggs

Fried spinach with garlic
ipmar07_007.jpg

Steamed fish in soup (I didn’t take much of this as the soup was really pepper-ry!)

Kung po mantis prawn…very very good!

Pork chop

Claypot tofu

Stir fried bbq pork in dark soya sauce…this is absolutely sinful!

All that for seven hungry people @ RM16 per pax!

Next…dessert!

    Hi Soo Yin,

May I know the direction to this Chemor restaurant or just provide the name of the restaurant will do so that next time when I go back to Sg Siput, I can pop in Chemor for a try. Million Thanks.

FeR: Hmm…I’m actually blur about the places we go…just sit in the car, follow the crowd, and hopefully, take some nice photos to share with you guys…*grin* Oh, and for this round of pics, I used my DSLR - Canon 350D. Sometimes, I’m too shy to lug it to restaurants, so I used my compact Canon Ixus instead.

LY.Tai: Hiya…thanks for dropping by. To be honest, I don’t really know how to get there coz a friend was telling my hubby how to go. All I remember is that you have to go past the main road (Kinta City on your right), go past the highway, all the way towards Chemor, and as soon as you see the Shell station on your left, take the second left turning after the station. The *restaurant* is on your right. I’ll try to get the proper directions for you…

LOL! i love your reply to FeR. that’s the kinda thing i’d say too…minus the DSLR part of course :P we’re hopeless lah.

    Hi Soo Yin,

Thanks, I roughly know how to go there and a little bit help was to let me know the name of the restaurant will do….I am from Sungai Siput….20 mins drive north of Chemor so I can figure where the Shell station is??? - that one from the Ipoh direction.

    Anyway, Thanks.

Hi, I love how gorgeous your food photos look even with your compact camera! I’m still hopelessly bad with the camera and my food never looks as appetising as yours! That steamed fish in soup looks rather interesting!

Oh, btw, I tagged you for a meme! Hope you don’t mind!

next time u all should try a restaurant in lawan kuda. it’s erm… before gopeng? i think! i dunno how to get there! nice and cheap food!!! something like what you all had.

    Carrot: Hehe…quite *shy*

LY.Tai: Hey, my friend calls it Chemor Fish…I don’t know if that’s the right name! But I got the tel. no. (updated it on the post), so perhaps you can try giving them a call before you go to get the proper name of the shop? If you’re going in a big group, suggest you call to reserve the table in the *aircon* room… :-)
PinkElle: Aww…thanks! But Adobe PhotoShop helps aplenty too! *grin*

Cheekypumpkin: Nice and cheap food welcomed anytime. Err…where’s Gopeng? Seriously, geography was one of my worst subjects back in school….so shy!

  9. Comment by cheekypumpkin on 23 March 2007 @ 10:33 pm

gopeng is this town after ipoh. u can either use the highway or use the trunk road. to get to lawan kuda i think u need to use the trunk road. hahahaha… the road after ISC… as for the exact location gotta ask my parents. i just sit in the car. :)
