Food review: Il Divo (Part 2, with piccies this time!)
Tried it? Rate it!
[Edit: The website is up, so I finally got the right names for the food!]
We went to Il Divo @ Hartamas again last night for dinner, this time with my parents coz more people means more food to try and more piccies to take! Gosh, I’m such a glutton! *grin*
I really like eating at this place. I feel that it has such a great vibe with the clean lines of the decor, the friendly waiters, the Italian music in the background. Vincenzo, the owner, is constantly checking with us if we’re ok, if we like the food…he’s really friendly and jovial! They even offered to give us a bigger table by joining two square tables together, even though they could’ve very well left us at our original, smaller table and seated another 4 customers at the spare table easily! It’s these sort of small touches that makes you feel really welcomed…

Anyways, enough about the place, here are the pics of the food we tried (the lighting was quite dim, so photos were taken at ISO400 and are kinda grainy, but that shouldn’t detract from how great the food looks and tastes!)…
For starters, we had the fresh clams in white wine sauce. We had this the last time we were there, and I wanted my parents to try it out. It tasted just as good as last time, though there was less sauce this time around. I personally prefer this dish with more sauce cause it tastes so good, and you can soak the excess up with bread!

We also ordered a salad…as usual, I can’t remember what it’s called exactly, so I’ll call it “rocket salad with very thin slices of beef”…heh. Hubby and my dad said the beef was really nice.
Bresaola with rocket salad, parmesan flakes and balsamic reduction

My parents had pasta for mains. Dad had the angel hair aglio olio…yes, the colours were really that vibrant in real life! I tried a little bit, but it was kinda spicy…a no-no for me when it comes to pasta. I might try it the next time we dine here, minus the chilli of course!

My mum had the seafood spaghetti. The portion is huge, and they are seriously very generous with the seafood…hehe…could see my mum struggling to finish it!

Hubby and myself ordered the same main course as our previous visit. He had the lamb shank…

…while I had the aglio olio jumbo king prawns. I’m seriously in love with this dish, I tell ya! Everything on the plate tastes so good that I polished it all off (except for the olives which I don’t eat). Again, very generous with the sun-dried tomatoes.

And finally, dessert! Yes, this time, we had room in our tummies for dessert…*grin*.
We ordered the tiramisu, which was recommended by Vincenzo. Oh…and they mixed up our orders and thought we ordered two servings instead of one, so we got the second serving on the house! Personally, I felt the tiramisu was just ok. The sponge fingers weren’t soaked enough in the liquer, so there were bits that was still a tad bit crunchy…

I decided to try the chocolate mousse with strawberries. Surprisingly, it came with a serving of orange mousse drizzled with chocolate sauce as well. This was my favourite dessert as the mousse wasn’t overly sweet and went very well with the sweet strawberries.

My parents shared a scoop of homemade chocolate ice cream which was served with some strawberries. The ice cream was rich and creamy, and again, not too sweet. I think I’d like to try the Caffe Latte flavour the next time round.

Needless to say, we were all really stuffed by the end of the meal. Stuffed and satisfied! The bill came up to RM390 for 2 starters, 4 main courses and 3 desserts…about RM100 per pax.
Oh, and in case you were wondering, the little kitty cat from last time dropped by for a visit halfway through our dinner again!

Yumyum! Those prawns in your aglio olio look really huge! But what a nice meal
And prices aren’t that bad considering you had the whole works!

Pinkelle: The prawns WERE huge! Three was really generous, and if you love eating prawn heads (which I don’t), you’ll definitely enjoy this dish!
Carrot: Yeah, it’s not exactly a place you can go often, but it’s not too expensive for a nice meal once in a while too!

Oh, you should try their Angus beef and the other lamb dish (can’t remember what is it called), they are fantastic if you are into meat!

Ena: Hey, thanks for dropping by and for the recommendation! Will definitely let my husband know since he’s the carnivore of the family…

Oh God..Soo Yin…your pics of the Angel Hair Pasta and the Lamb Shank look soooo good! At 2am, do you know what a torture it is to crave for food like these? *sigh*
Dunno if you’ve tried this Italian (or Mediterranean, as they call it) restaurant called Porto Romano. It’s in TTDI, but have another outlet at City Square. The food here is very good and quite authentic, and prices very reasonable. Their grilled vegetables (mushrooms, zucchini, onions, etc) is so good that even I, a meat lover, ordered 2 portions of it. And their Lamb Shank, which comes in a fantastically thick & rich tomato sauce is my fave. Your hubby should like it. It brings to mind the Italian food during my Perth, Australia days. And Perth has some pretty good Italian food!

Looks so good. Gosh, I feel like eating there this weekend. Think I know which kitty you’re talking abt, it goes around the area wailing in such a loud voice, I always have an urge to feed it food.

Garrett: Why, thank you! And I apologize for causing you to crave for pasta at 2am…
Yes, I’ve heard of Porto Romano, but yet to try it out. Thanks for the recommendation about the Lamb Shank, have told my hubby about it! Am quite eager to try it out (the restaurant, not the lamb since I don’t eat lamb, beef, etc.)…
Boo_licious: Hahah…yes, wailing in a loud voice is really an accurate description! Make me wanna feed it too…what a good tactic!
