sooyindotcom…in the beginning
My first experience in building a website was wayyyyy back in 2002 when I created my first website at Tripod as a way to share the details of our wedding with family and friends. Being the finicky person that I am, I soon had a problem with ads being displayed (would you want your wedding website to have an advert for gambling and porn?
) and I finally decided that it was about time to get a proper (ie. no ads) website up.
So, on one lazy Saturday morning, I found a company called Exabytes to host our wedding website. Subsequently in 2003, I added a subweb called Next Chapter, featuring our apartment and what we’ve been up to since our wedding in November 2002.
December 2004 came along, and with all that space idling in the server, I thought…why not steal a little corner for myself? And that was how my original so-called blog, reflections came about. My original idea was to have something along the lines of an online journal and an alternative to signing up to those blogging sites that everyone was using.
I thought I was being so smart. Heh.
Turns out that everyone was right. What I came to realize was that without a proper blogging software, most of my time was spent trying to archive my posts manually, etc. Yes, don’t laugh…my first ‘blog’ was fully orangmatik (people-matic as opposed to automatic). Yet, I kept at it for seven months!
Then came July 2005…
