Movie review: POTC - At World’s End

What would you do? What would any of you be willing to do? Would you breath the weird and haunted shores at World’s End to fetch back witty Jack?
We were all left hanging when Dead Man’s Chest ended. But fear not, me hearties…the last installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy is finally here!
Between the three films, I would say that the best would still be Curse of the Black Pearl, followed by At World’s End. I personally found the storyline for this film rather confusing at the beginning as it picks off right where Dead Man’s Chest ends, so I highly recommend watching Dead Man’s Chest again for a ‘refresher course’ before going for this movie!
Keira Knightley has a stronger role here, and so does Geoffrey Rush as Captain Barbossa who returns from the dead. Dishy Orlando Bloom’s Will Turner has a darker role, while Johnny Depp’s Captain Sparrow is as crazy as ever! This show ties up alot of loose ends and characters that appeared secondary in the second film will play a bigger role in this outing. The fighting scenes were awesome, especially the final climatic battle at the end of the film. The show closes on a rather unexpected note, but I definitely liked this ending as opposed to the ’safer’ route that the producers could’ve chosen. While there were some scenes that I felt were unnecessary in the show, the two-and-a-half hour movie truly a roller-coaster ride from start to finish…slowly building up momentum until the final explosive 30 minutes. I really loved the battle scene at the end where the ships were fighting it out in the maelstrom…that and the music kept me on the edge of my seat!
If you do go and watch the show, stay back till after the credits roll…there’s one last scene that many people missed! I sat in my seat for awhile when the show ended but nothing appeared, so hubby and I began making our way out of the cinema. We were 5 steps from the exit when that last scene came on and all the people who were still in the cinema stopped to watch (some even went back to their seats!). What was even funnier was that the cinema next door probably started the show 2-3 minutes later than the one we were in, so while we were walking out, there was a huge crowd at the other cinema’s exit where people were tip-toeing and peering in just to watch the final scene!

MeiyeN: Ya…didn’t expect the show to be so long! Was surprised to see that it was way past midnight by the time it ended!
