Two weeks ago, hubby brought me to this restaurant at Desa Sri Hartamas for lunch. He’d tried it earlier with some of his colleagues and said the food was quite nice.

The restaurant is located at the row of shops facing the open car park, perpendicular to the row that houses Jarrod & Rawlins/Sugimoto, behind The Lab.

The shop is somewhat ’split’ into two sections where the outside section is probably for smokers, while the inside is air-conditioned and presumably a non-smoking section. We opted to sit outside as the restaurant has kinda a open kitchen concept, and I didn’t want to end up smelling of food! I forgot to bring my camera, so the photos were all taken using my N73…quite blurry as you can see (I personally think Sony Ericsson’s camera is better even though Nokia keeps on promoting their Carl Zeiss lens, etc.)!

This shop serves bubble tea, and of course, I had to have some (more on my bubble tea craze later). It’s not cheap though…one tall cup costs about RM6 to RM8!!

As for mains, we ordered the following:

Taiwanese sausage: Tastes like lap cheong…it’s nice and salty and goes well with white rice, but boy, did I feel unhealthy eating it!

Fried french(?) beans: This was Not Good. The beans were old, and the whole dish was pretty tasteless.

‘Three cup chicken’ (?杯??): The famous Taiwanese dish, ie. san bei ji, which purportedly consists of one cup of soy sauce, sesame oil and rice wine. Personally, I preferred this restaurant’s dish to Fong Lye. Fong Lye’s san bei ji often tends to be abit burnt, while this restaurant cooks it till the flavour seeps into the chicken meat, but without the slightly charred skin. I would’ve liked the dish with more basil leaves though…

Rice with pork: This is basically white rice with some marinated pork on top. Since the waitress recommended it, we decided to try it instead of just getting plain white rice.

I wouldn’t mind coming back here for the chicken, but I’ll definitely order another type of vege next time!

And regarding my bubble tea craze…

There was a time when a group of us at work were so crazy over bubble tea that we used to just go to KLCC everyday to buy a cup and also ta pau for our colleagues back at the office. Sometimes, we would buy six to eight cups to bring back to the office! As expected, that craze died down after some time, furthermore, the shop closed down. But J, if you’re reading this…I’m sure you remember those good ol’ days…

Their logo looks strange - half a dog! I tried Fong Lye once too and didn’t come away too impressed. Maybe Taiwanese food just isn’t really up my alley!

Ya hor…I didn’t notice! I like the Lion-head stew at Fong Lye, but the rest of the dishes are pretty normal only…
