Food review: Vintry
Tried it? Rate it!
After reading reviews about the caramelized roast pork served at Vintry here, here, here and here, I HAD to go try it!
As usual, hubby was more than willing to try something new since that means he doesn’t have to be the one to think of where to go…
We arrived at Vintry at 7.30pm after work on Monday to find all the tables either occupied, or reserved. Luckily, they were willing to give us a table upstairs as long as we could finish by 8.30pm before the next party arrives. Wah…tension-nya!
We had the much-talked-about caramelized roast pork for starters, hubby had oxtail soup and the blue cheese pork burger, while I ordered angel hair pasta with (more) roast pork. Despite the place being quite full, we didn’t have to wait long for the food (and probably because they had to make sure we leave by 8.30pm…
).
The roast pork is seriously good, folks! Sweet and crunchy and…wah…I’m drooling just thinking about it! Sinful…really sinful. The oxtail soup is the soupy type, not the thick kind which you can find at Monte’s, so just keep that in mind if you prefer the latter. Hubby liked his burger, though he did say the cheese was quite overwhelming towards the end. I wrinkled my nose as he waved it in front me to try…me no likey any type of cheese! As for my pasta, I found it to be abit too wet. The portions are just nice though, so I didn’t feel overstuffed at the end of the meal. The clear winner for the night, in my opinion, was definitely the roast pork! Yummy!
No piccies this time cause the lighting is really dim, but we’ll definitely go back there to sample some of their other starters that were recommended on the blogs, so I’ll definitely bring along my dSLR next time.
Oh, and for those who have never heard of this place, they have a large selection of wine…I forgot to mention that earlier coz I don’t drink wine. Quite malu also la, we were the only table which didn’t order wine!
You can also order food from the other restaurants nearby (Ka Soh, The Rib Shop, La Risata)…I think this is a great concept for people who like the wine and probably the ambience there, but would like to have some Italian or Chinese food instead.
