Bad luck Saturday
Well, Saturday didn’t start out with any bad luck.
We had lunch at Babu, the Taiwanese restaurant @ Hartamas…that was pretty good.
I managed to get the latest copy of OK!, Klue AND Style at the magazine shop nearby…that was good too.
I ta pau-ed a tall cold cup of bubble tea to drink in the car…aha! That was when my luck turned. Pfft.
As we made our way back to Ipoh after lunch, we found that the traffic was becoming increasingly heavy past the Sungai Buloh overhead restaurant. Despite some roadworks going on, none of the lanes were closed, and it’s really a mystery why there were so many cars on the road! It’s not like the school holidays just started! At certain points, I definitely felt like it was CNY all over again… 
The traffic jam coupled with the bubble tea that I kept on drinking meant that by midway, my bladder was screaming for a pit stop… 
Luck had it that two consecutive rest areas were closed for refurbishment…no joke, k? I spent the second half of the journey NOT drinking any water at all… 
Hubby had to meet some guy to sign some stuff so I spent the evening at his sis’s place reading magazines. He came back around 5pm+ with the news that most of our friends weren’t around…one couple was in Penang, another in KL. So no big makan (and gambling) session that night…
We had dinner at Yam Yam Seafood Restaurant @ Ipoh Garden…err…east? South?…with KK & wife. We were first introduced to this place by KK, and I really like the food there. It’s tasty, not to mention cheap! Our order of kung po mantis prawns, steamed fish with chilli and black bean sauce, fried kailan, butter chicken and kam heong lala only set us back RM15 per person!
Dinner was followed by dessert at Ice Ice Baby. This time, I tried their Hasma Sago Papaya…pretty nice. Unfortunately, I suddenly got gastric pains while we were there, so we had to cut the night short.
Back home, gastric pains turned into a bad stomach ache… 
Needless to say, I didn’t enjoy this trip very much at all…

Aww!! I hope you feel better now from that tummy ache!!
I finally read a restaurant that I know and have been to - Yam Yam!! hahaha. The food is pretty good there, I’d have to agree!

Siongee: Thanks, recovered by Sunday, phew! Haha…yes, food at Yam Yam is good and cheap…like most food in Ipoh, actually!

Oh no, not that Yum Yum…it’s Yam Yam, at the shoplots nearer to Kinta City. I’ve been to Yum Yum as well, though!

Babu is at Hartamas. It’s the first row of shops directly facing the big open car park. Perpendicular to Sugimoto.

Hi Soo Yin, I went to try Wok Hei last week, it was not bad but the price is slightly on the high side if compare with normal chinese food. The almost same food served at Wok Hei you can get it a restaurant called “Tian Tian Lai” opposite Pudu’s post office (open for lunch only). The steam egg, For pow siu yok (pork fried with black sauce & dried chilies), steam fish are all very nice & cheap too.
Not only u who is bad luck on tt day. Me too was caught in the bad traffic jam, I left KL at 10am, the jam oredi started from some memorial park onwards. We saw a car got bang at tepi jalan, so maybe tt’s the reason every1 stop & see, therefore slow down. So cheer up

Fiona: Ya, the price at Wok Hei is definitely more expensive than usual tai chows, I suppose the overhead is higher…
Thanks for the recommendation on Tian Tian Lai, will keep that place in mind!
And it’s such a typical M’sian habit to slow down to see an accident, isn’t it?
