Last Saturday, M, hubby and I had dinner at Banquet, a new eating place in Bangsar Village II. The restaurant is located on the 1st floor and split into two sections - smoking section is in the actual shop while the non-smoking section is smack right in the middle of the shopping centre.

Deco-wise, it looks rather laid back with the all-white color scheme (M said she felt like she was in an asylum!) and rattan chairs, yet a little bit posh when you look up and see the chandeliers. It kinda looks like a cafe that you would go to for scones and tea!

The restaurant offers both Western and Chinese/local food and as it’s a sister restaurant to CafeCafe (which I still haven’t tried!), I expected the food to be good.

All three of us were starving that night, so we ordered quite a lot…

Fried chicken wings for starters (RM14): Very crispy and hot when it arrived

Sauteed portabello and button mushrooms with garlic (RM15): This was good as it had enough garlic in it but rather expensive for such a small portion!

King prawns with honey truffle (RM38): I really REALLY heart this dish. The honey truffle dressing was basically glorified mayo, but it went so well with the chopped peanuts that were sprinkled on top. I polished off all the garnishing as well cause I used it to mop up all the dressing!

M’s seafood spaghetti (RM28): I think this was probably the worst dish as the spaghetti was extremely extremely dry. I’ve never seen spaghetti cooked till so dry! M said that the prawns were fresh, though.

Hubby’s mee jawa (RM16): Hubby gave this dish a thumbs-up!

Peanut butter hot chocolate cake (RM23): This was the most disappointing dish among all the ones we ordered. It was really really small, and it felt like we were drinking chocolate soup! I don’t know if the chocolate was supposed to solidify after being baked (one would think so!), but everything underneath the ‘top’ of the cake was liquid. And the peanut butter looked like it was scooped from a jar and just plonked in! And it’s expensive too! The one with truffles was priced at RM35 if I remember correctly…talk about highway robbery!

Overall, with exception for the dessert, I quite like the food there. The service on the night we were there, however, was extremely extremely slow. Extremely.

Last night, hubby and I went back there for dinner as we wanted to try the nasi lemak (no pics this time, though…my camera was in my other bag). The nasi lemak was pretty good, and so was the plate of rojak we ordered. The nasi lemak comes with curry chicken, a hard-boiled egg as well as sambal. My only comment would be that the rice wasn’t fragrant nor hot enough.

Anyways, I’m so glad there’s another place to eat in BVII other than Delicious coz I’ve found that the quality of the food and service at Delicious has declined alarmingly!

Ah, the Mee Jawa looks good. Will make it a point to return for that plus their wok fried mee jawa. We tried the chicken wings too which we liked, also had the mango salad which was good stuff but a small portion.

MeiyeN: Butter fish? Ok ok…will try next time! Ya, Delicious seems to be forgoing quality for quantity nowadays…

Jason: You must try the prawns! Very very nice!

Boo_licious: Will try the mango salad next time. The waiter said both the mee jawa and the wok fried mee jawa are their popular items…

thesms: Hiya…sorry for the late reply. Ya, it really irks me when the service is lousy + we have to pay a premium for food that’s not that great to start with!
