I know I’m supposed to continue with the sadly extremely overdue ‘Part Deux’ of the floggers gathering at Max!, but since I haven’t edited the photos yet, I thought I’ll just sneak this short post in.

We were doing the usual couple thingy tonight. I’m sure all you attached folks out there are familiar with it. It’s the usual song and dance, cat and mouse, whatchacallit routine.

“Eat what?”
“Dunno. What you wanna eat?”
“Dunno. You le?”
“Dunno. You think la…”
“XXX place?”
“Dowwan.”
“Then you suggest la…”
“Hmmm…dunno la. What you wanna eat?”

Sigh.

Anyways, hubby suddenly remembered Jarrod & Rawlins…and I was pretty eager to try it coz I’ve heard and read some good reviews about this place, plus it’s so near…so off we went.

We sat upstairs in the restaurant…too hot to sit outside without aircon, nowadays! The place was pretty packed with the after-office crowd, but there were still two tables available for couples.

The menu didn’t seem to feature many dishes, and I made up my mind quite quickly coz I was really hungry. For starters, I ordered the Atlantic Prawn salad with Marie Rose sauce. Fancy schmancy name for shrimps with thousand island dressing. And small shrimps too! And pepper! Who puts pepper in shrimp salad?!? :???:

Hubby had Caesar salad. It didn’t look very appetizing so I didn’t bother to try.

For mains, hubby ordered the pork knuckles while I went for Cumberland pork sausages. I didn’t like mine…the gravy wasn’t to my liking, neither were the sausages. As for hubby’s pork knuckles…give me El Cerdo anytime, babe! The meat was absolutely tasteless. The skin was hard and not at all tasty. It was just one big fat lump of tasteless meat. Wait, make that dry, tasteless meat. How dry? So dry till I chewed and chewed and couldn’t get enough moisture out to swallow.

Sigh. Talk about a disappointing Friday dinner. I left the place feeling rather disgruntled…

Anyways, some people seem to like the food there, so were we unlucky, ie. did we go on a bad day? Feedback, anyone?

Through the eyes of love

Mon, 02 Jul 2007, 09:54 pm

…reaching out to touch you, i can feel so much, since i found you…looking through the eyes of love…

After watching Torvill & Dean’s video on Paris’s website, I was reminded of an ice skating show that’s an oldie but a goodie…

Ice Castles!

Does anyone remember that show? I remember watching it when I was young and falling absolutely in love with the theme song, Through the Eyes of Love. And being so young and impressionable, I of course decided that I wanted to be an ice skater too…

I found the video above on YouTube (doncha just love YouTube?!?) and watching Lexie’s final performance and hearing that haunting song just gives me goosebumps all over again!

Talk about strolling down memory lane!

Max!mum fun (Part Une)

Mon, 02 Jul 2007, 07:03 pm

The flogger’s meet at Max! Kitchen and Wines @ Tengkat Tong Shin was held on the same day as JHP’s opening which was a good thing, since I was too shy to strike up a conversation with most of them during the launch…

Hubby dropped M & I off at the restaurant, and we arrived close to eight to find that some of the floggers were already there and were busy looking through the menu (we got the whole 1st floor to ourselves…wheee!)…so punctual, these people! Most of the bloggers I met in the afternoon were there…just to recap, going round the table starting from my right…Allan, Jason, WMW, Joe, Nicole, Boo, Splashie Boy, Bald Eagle, Lyrical Lemongrass, Nigel, Hunky & Paprika and M.

This was definitely one of those occasions where good food and good company came together and meshed perfectly. I’ll talk about the food in a separate post, but boy, did we have fun that night! As the night progressed, the conversation flowed freely and even became kinda raunchy at times. Cameras were compared, and the length of lenses were commented upon. The now-famous Nipple Joe photo was passed around the table (I still think *someone* is collecting body parts on his phone…abs, nipples, lips…what next?) much to Nicole’s chagrin, I think…*grin*

And pink yoda story?

Well, a pretty hot guy came up to our floor to use the washroom. Allan and Nigel commented that he ‘pings their gaydar‘, resulting in some confused looks, which ended up with them explaining the term coupled with hand motions and radar sounds, which then ended up with quite some laughter all round the table that continued until the guy came out of the washroom. I’m sure you can very well imagine what happened when the guy walked out…all of us abruptly stopped laughing, remained as quiet as a church mouse while staring at him surreptitiously from the side of our eyes as he made his way across the floor to the stairs.

As soon as the poor guy walked down the stairs and disappeared from our sight, the whole table burst out in laughter again! Allan, who’d walked into the washroom as the guy came out, opened the door and stuck his head out and joined in the raucous laughter…we swore that after hearing us, none of the diners below would dare venture upstairs to use the washroom!

Anyhoo, Nigel then asked Joe if that guy ‘Pinged your ‘dar?‘…and some of us heard it differently, for example, yours truly. When he clarified, I said…”Ohhh…I thought you said Pink Yoda!”, to which witty WMW quipped, “Gay, he is…”, causing us to break down laughing again…

It was truly a fun night, and by the time we left Max! at 11.30pm, I felt like I’ve made some new friends. It’s usually not my nature to meet a group of people I don’t know (luckily M accompanied me!), shy ma, but I’m so glad I did!!
