The Tudors

The Tudors

I’ve always been fascinated with the life and times of King Henry VIII and his 6 wives (divorced, beheaded, died; divorced beheaded survived!), so imagine my delight when I read on the paper today that there was a new series called The Tudors, where sexy Jonathan Rhys Meyers plays King Henry VIII!

Now, off to Amazon to see if there’s a DVD set available!

He looks too good to be Henry VIII though. I always envisioned Henry as a fat buffon in those hilarious looking puffy skirts they wore during that era.

Apparently Henry was really (or reasonably?!) good-looking before he ate his way to being the ‘fat buffon’ that he is frequently depicted as in the portraits (that being the image we’re all familiar with).

Jon Rhys Meyers is HOT.

The show is on Showtime. I don’t know whether the first season is already available on DVD. Doubt it very much since the first season only ended a couple of months ago. Jonathan Rhys-Meyers did ruin the first season for me. Everybody else were so good, but knowing how Henry VIII really looked like makes him really unsuitable as far as looks (and also acting) is concerned!

I am looking forward to The Other Boleyn Girl though. Eric Bana would make a much more realistic Henry.

Boo_licious: Haha…ya, the puffy skirts are pretty funny on men, eh? Choryl is right though, he was supposed to be really good looking when he was young(er) before he ballooned into the big, huge, fat fella we see in the history books!

Choryl: Agree…really hot! He has those smouldering eyes…mmmm….

Cempakasari: I checked on Amazon, the DVD’s not available yet, unfortunately. Well, I always pictured Henry VIII (when he was young) as burly, tall and blond, so ya, in a way, JR-M doesn’t really fit the profile for me, but he’s still yummy eye candy though!

Re. The Other Boleyn Girl…I really can’t wait to watch it too!! BBC actually made a 90min drama based on that book in 2003, unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to be available on DVD…

    Coketai: Hope the show’s good!

Cempakasari: Ohhh…darn, it wasn’t good? Guess I’ll have to wait for the movie then…

WMW: Hehe…that’s a good description, much like JHP’s cakes!
