I went back to D’lish yesterday evening to buy a Peking Duck wrap for dinner (and the Roti Jala with Curry Chicken wrap for lunch today…don’t bother, it’s not very nice). While I was paying, I spotted a vanilla cream cupcake with pink butter icing that was so absolutely cute that I just had to buy it to take some photos…

Unfortunately, a growling tummy doesn’t give rise to a pair of steady hands, so this was the best of the lot…

Unfortunately, as well, the cupcake looked better than it tasted… :???:

After an afternoon of mahjong, hubby and I along with J&S and Z adjourned to King Crab opposite the Kelana Jaya LRT station for dinner. J&O joined us as well…when trying a new place, the more the merrier!

I’ve been wanting to try King Crab ever since reading all those good reviews on the other floggers’ websites, and I’d already listed down all the dishes to order based on their write-ups…

It was a good thing we were all hungry by the time we reached King Crab despite all the food that we’d consumed in the afternoon…TFF, gwai ling ko, Big Apple donuts, Twisties…

While it took quite some time for us to flag down a waiter, the food surprisingly didn’t take long to arrive once we’d placed our order! Luckily for us too, as S and myself were salivating over the menu which featured huge piccies of the dishes in full technicolour!

Tofu with mushrooms: I only had a bit as I was saving my stomach for other dishes… We found that the dish was abit cold though…sitting on the counter too long, perhaps?
King Crab

Seong tong yuen choy (spinach in superior soup): Just normal…one of those dishes that you can easily find in other restaurants.
King Crab

Crispy roast chicken: The chicken skin was very nice and crispy, not bad!
King Crab

Salted egg yolk squid: OMG…cholestrol alert!! So darn good, especially with plain white rice…
King Crab

Salt and pepper har ko (mantis prawn): This was just so-so…should’ve tried the kung po style instead…
King Crab

Guiness pork ribs: Two thumbs up…very yummy! I could taste a slightly beer-ish aftertaste…a nice change from the usual pork ribs that you can find in most Chinese non-halal restaurants.
King Crab

Butter crabs…
King Crab

…and deep fried mantou: Cholestrol high alert!! The butter sauce was very creamy with a slight hint of spiciness, and surprisingly, the deep fried mantou didn’t feel overtly oily. Absolutely heavenly, this!
King Crab

Fried meehoon with lala: This was just so-so…can’t really compare to the one we had at Yong Tat Seafood @ Klang
King Crab

After resting and chit-chatting for awhile, we ordered a plate of refreshing fruits to give us a semblance of feeling healthy before calling it a night. The damage? RM280 for 7 pax (plus one so-cute-I-want-one-now baby!).

Restaurant King Crab
No. 103 - 107, Jalan SS25/2
Taman Mewah Jaya

Tel: 03 - 78082388
Location: If you know where the Kelana Jaya LRT station is located, well, King Crab is situated directly opposite…you can’t miss it as there’s a big-@$$ sign for all and sundry to see!

Food review: D’lish @ Bangsar Village I - Part II

Ice lemon tea and ice honey green tea: Normal, nothing special

Wagyu beef pie: Hubby said it was just so-so

M had the Teriyaki salmon fillet with soba noodles

Roast duck with hoi sin sauce wrap: This one was a winner for me. Very tasty, very nice! The wrap is served cold…I wonder if it would taste nicer when it’s heated up?
dâ??lish bangsar village

Vanilla cupcake with classic butter cream: M was given a free cupcake as the staff forgot to warm up her salmon. I didn’t try it though, the bright pink icing kinda just put me off…

Sticky date cupcake: This is usually served as is, but I asked the staff to heat it up. I found it a little bit dry, didn’t really like it.

Hubby also had mushroom soup which was VERY watery…I hate it when restaurants serve watery soup. Always makes me feel as if they’re trying to save money (ie. split a bowl of soup into two and add water to make up the quantity!)…

Overall, I feel the food that we had was just average. The place had a pretty nice ambience though. There weren’t many people when we went on Saturday afternoon, unlike Delicious which is always packed…maybe it’s because the cafe is still rather new although the reviews that I’ve read so far aren’t exactly flattering… :???:

Just some further info for those who are interested…E&O Restaurants bought a 51% stake in The Delicious Group a few months ago, and it’s been all systems go since. In addition to the D’lish branch in Bangsar Village, another has begun operations in MidValley. Dish, the fine dining restaurant, will open in BSC (at Yi Garden, which will also be revamped to become Reunion, located at BVII) by year end. All three restaurants, ie. Delicious, D’lish and Dish, will also open at Dua Residency, located near the American Embassy.
