PS they totally butchered this show

Even though my website is still in a mess (categories, my categories are all gone!), I just HAVE to get this off my chest.

Out of sheer boredom and desperation, I finally caved in and watched PS I Love You last night. I’d originally refused to watch it because I think Hilary Swank is nowhere close to how I picture Holly Kennedy to be, and well, ever since Boys Don’t Cry and Million Dollar Baby, I’ve always thought of her as a man.

Anyhoo, I watched it…and obviously, from this post’s title, totally hated it. Why?

The story was changed so much it’s like it’s taken from an entirely new book! It’s set in New York. Holly’s brothers were dropped from the story. Holly’s father became a man who abandoned his wife and kids. Ciara looks ridiculous. Their holiday to Spain became a holiday to Ireland. Holly becomes a shoe designer. The letters are delivered in ridiculous ways, including…from a singing leprechaun! Her mom owns a pub, and Daniel works in that pub. And what’s with that ridiculous singing scene in Holly’s apartment? And who came up with this William character?!? It’s like everything that they could change from the book, they did! They should’ve just called it Oh we lost the book so we’ll make up the story as we go along. PS, I love you. And let’s not get me started on Hilary Swank and her wide-toothed, annoying smile…my goodness, she and Ben Affleck have that same cheesy, irritating Captain America smile. I wonder what would their kids look like. But I digress.

The only thing I liked about the show were Holly’s cute outfits.

Granted, the book was not a Pulitzer prize winner, but it sure was a hell lot better than the movie. It just irritates me when they make a movie out of a good book and spoil everything in the process. Let’s just hope The Time Traveler’s Wife fares much better than this one.

Let me try if your respond function works. haha.

I watched Sex and the City movie recently. It was hilarious. Have you watched it yet, to counter balance the I love you movie?

Tomorrow is my 5 year anniversary with my husband (i.e. know him for 5 years). That’s another 5 years gone. Time flies, yet it’s joyous 5 years.

I was watching the movie halfway last night - I agree with you about almost everything (I have not read the book, btw) inculding Ciara, her dance, and her smile. I do find her very pretty though, somehow. Forgive me! :D

But oh, how i teared (by how “thoughtful” the husband is). I stopped watching only because my eyes were stinging.

And you know what, I can’t quite stand Harry Connick Jr. Nothing personal, it’s just his looks.

**I hope this comment thing is working**

Lora: No, it’s not out in the cinemas here yet, and I’m actually waiting for a clear version to come out in pirated DVD…haha! Congrats on your anniversary!

Tsu Lin: Oh oh…do read the book. It’s way better than the movie. The author has another book called ‘Rosie Dunne’, which I actually prefer to PS I Love You. And yes, this comment thing is working…hahah…

Zewt: Well, not really. Just had some free time on my hands, decided to clean up this mess of a blog that has been collecting cobwebs for wayyy too long. Don’t really plan to blog that regularly at the moment… Glad to know that you’re still going strong though!
