Pregnancy update #5940392

Sat, 04 Oct 2008, 12:41 am

We went to see the gynae a few days ago for a routine checkup. This time, he did a detailed ultrasound scan (still haven’t gotten the CD of pics from him, argh!) to check that baby’s spine, brain, heart are all normal, etc. It was such a treat to be able to see how much baby has grown in the last 4 weeks!

Baby was lying facing my spine, and boy, did the doctor have a hard time trying to get a 3D scan of baby’s face. She refused to turn over despite being prodded, and what’s more, she had her hands curled up in fists and was covering her face like a little boxer! Doctor had to give up in the end…

Doctor also commented that she’s really active…we could see her moving around during the scan. What’s more, I could feel her kick wherever the scanner pressed against my tummy! Since a few days ago, her kicks have been getting really strong and the unexpected ones can really make me catch my breath.

She’s also squirming around quite alot now and seem to have a particular fondness for pressing against my bladder… One thing I’ve noticed is that when I wake up in the morning, she’ll squirm around for a while, give a few gentle kicks, and then quiet down again (probably going back to sleep). Recently, I noticed that she seems to kick whenever I eat sweet stuff like cookies and ice-cream…I wonder if it’s a kick of approval or to say “mummy, watch your diet else you won’t be able to lose all the extra weight!”…

Speaking of weight…the 3D/2N holiday at Cameron Highlands has definitely contributed to my weight gain! Instead of 1kg in every 4 weeks, I gained 0.5kg in the earlier 2 weeks, and 1.5kgs in the last 2 weeks! 1.5kg in 2 weeks! *faints*

Other changes…my hair! My hair stylist told me during a recent visit that my scalp has gotten oilier, and my hair texture has changed slightly. I didn’t think much of it till this morning when I noticed that my hair has actually gotten quite frizzy! Quite irritating as the leave-in conditioner didn’t help one bit…gotta go shopping for some hair product soon.

Memory loss. My mom said…”don’t blame it on the baby, you’re just being forgetful”…. But I do think that it’s because my mind is so occupied with baby that I’m not focusing on other stuff as much as I should/used to. It’s silly little absent-minded things like turning the key to lock the door when I’m actually trying to unlock it. Forgetting to bring stuff out even though I’ve placed it strategically near the front door. Fingers crossed that it stays as silly little absent-minded things!

Oooo….and baby clothes shopping has begun! Thanks to Sherl who pointed me to Pumpkin Patch which was having a renovation sale, I managed to buy quite a few pieces of clothing for baby yesterday. Got some stuff from Baby Gap, Poney & FOS too…happy happy joy joy! Baby clothes are just soooo cute and small and adorable!

20 more weeks to go…we’re halfway there!

I’m still on my streak of bad movies. This one is one of the worst so far.

Horror? Not really. Comedy? Not really. Action (since Donnie Yen is in the show, one would expect lots of fighting, right?)? Not really. Love story? Not really.

Really really bad filming, storyline and acting…oh yeah, baby, it’s all there.

Seriously, if you’re going with the expectations of really good fight scenes, you’ll be seriously seriously disappointed (sorry about the repeated ’seriously’s…been rewatching Grey’s Anatomy recently… ). Honestly, don’t waste your money watching this in the cinema, just go buy the RM10 DVD from your nearby friendly pirated DVD shop…

I don’t know how Zhou Xun, who won the Best Actress award for her role in Perhaps Love, ended up in this farce of a show. However, the rest of the cast were so lousy that I ended up rooting for her huli jing character instead.

Speaking of huli jings, don’t we all know one girl that reminds you of one? The one that all guys go ga-ga for but all girls mistrust?

Cameron Highlands Resort

Fri, 03 Oct 2008, 11:50 pm

Room

Nice, but could’ve been a bit more well-maintained. Eg. some of the furniture were slightly chipped, the timber floor had lots of scratches and we found one or two stains on the bedsheet. The room was pretty big though…enough to fit a four poster bed and a sofa with room to spare!

All the rooms faced the main road, making it quite noisy when lorries and cars rumbled past at night…so light sleepers, be warned!

Food

The package included breakfast, lunch and dinner…and oh boy, did we eat!

The food is good but not fantastic. Some hits and misses - hubby ordered beef cheeks the first night and it came out to be a little bit tough, and both my mains on the two nights were so-so only.

The dishes that stood out were the truffle eggs with smoked salmon (very generous with the salmon given that it’s only an appetizer), tomato soup (hot and tangy), cod fish (Asian style, very nice!), club sandwich (the bread was thin and nicely toasted).

Portions are pretty generous - for breakfast, you get a bread basket, cereals, fruit juice, and three choices from the hot menu (one selection is more than enough to fill you up, and they have choices such as pancakes, waffles, sausages + toast + eggs + bacon).

For lunch, you get to select any two dishes from the menu, so it’s up to you to decide whether you want to go for the appetizers, soup, mains or just indulge in dessert… And finally, for dinner, it’s any three dishes from the menu.

Considering that the full meal package just costs RM200 more than the room only package, it’s pretty good value for money!

Weather
Lovely! Nice and chilly and cloudy!

What we did there

We slept in, had a leisurely breakfast, read magazines till lunch time, walked down to tea room for lunch, drove out to explore the area (and those of you who have been to Cameron Highlands know that there’s not much to see!), napped, enjoyed our 3 course dinner, went to the night market, watched telly…a very very relaxing holiday indeed!
