What makes me rush home every evening after work??

This!

*Superdupergoodgirl - depending on whether she finishes her milk/takes her nap(s)/doesn’t cry, she’ll be either #2-good-girl, #1-good-girl or a super-duper-good-girl for the day…

Elena - week 23

Tue, 30 Jun 2009, 07:23 pm

Most exciting news of the week? She flipped!! Yes….back to tummy!

Other than that, there’s not much to update this week other than a very scary and heart-stopping incident one night where Elena cried so much that she vomited! And of course, she cried even more after she vomited. I was so worried that she couldn’t breathe as she was crying so much she started coughing! She cried and cried till she was all red and her eyes were swollen… However, for the first time, I really really felt the strong bond that I have with her. Not even my mom could stop her from crying, but when I carried her and talked to her, she calmed down and stopped. Gosh, after witnessing that incident that night, it was so hard to leave her and go to work the next morning!! All I wanted to do was to hug and hold her the whole day and night. Luckily, she was not worse for wear the next day and was back to her sunny self in no time. I have no idea what triggered that incident…my guess is that she was tired and cranky and hungry at the same time.

Piccies!

Her hands are always gripping something now…be it her other hand, or toes or my hair!

Finger-sucking still continues on with a vengeance…

My happy smiley girl!

She can lift her head up quite high now, but not for long though…

Can’t believe it has been 5 and a half months already…gosh, another two weeks and we’ll be able to start her on solids! So exciting!!

On another note…sorry for the slow response in replying comments, will get around to it soon!

Elena - week 22

Mon, 29 Jun 2009, 12:16 am

This was the first week I was back at work, and boy, did I miss my darling girl so! I looked forward to going home every day, and seeing her smile at me when I reach home really melts away any tiredness I feel!

Although I’m away during the daytime, I still have some funny stories to tell!

Hubby was away one night, and I let Elena sleep with me on the bed (actually, I really miss having her next to me at night!). I was extremely sleepy but she still wanted to ‘talk’. In the end, I decided to switch off the light and see if she would go to sleep by herself. I was lying on my side facing her, and she turned towards me and used her hand to lightly touch and feel my face. When I didn’t respond, she used her fingers to scratch my face a couple of times. And when she still didn’t get any response from me….guess what she did? She punched me right in the nose with her fist!!! No kidding! And she must’ve felt so satisfied after that coz she straightaway fell asleep soon after…

She’s also on the verge of flipping…she has now accomplished a half turn and is quite adept at lying on her side with her whole body twisted like a pretzel. Soon…soon….

She’s also able to grip both sides of her sippy cup for a short while…although getting it into her mouth is a hit and miss affair most of the time…

I find that I now have even less time to myself nowadays as the night time is mostly spent playing and talking to Elena. I only have time to blog when she’s asleep, like now…however, I really hope I can keep this weekly update going! Time passes so fast, and in a blink of an eye, she’s already 5 months old. Like I told hubby…I’m looking forward to seeing her grow up yet at the same time, I wish she wouldn’t grow up so fast…sigh…

Elena - week 21

Wed, 17 Jun 2009, 07:03 pm

Nails nails, what to do with her nails? I try to cut ‘em straight, but that leaves a small sharp corner…and what happened? She scratched her ear…three times…and it bled. Then she scratched the side of her nose. Bled. The top of her nose. Skin peeled off. The inside of her nose. Bled. *heartbreak* I tried trimming it to the shape of her finger…ingrown fingernails pulak…sighsighsigh. Very very sum tong! The funny thing however, is that she doesn’t seem to feel the pain whenever she scratches herself…she doesn’t even cry… (err…not that I want her to…but it’s just kinda weird!)…

Other news for the week…Elena attended her first birthday party! A very good friend’s daughter just turned one and we were invited to a lovely, pink-themed birthday lunch at Lemon Garden. Elena was on her best behavior…with exception to a pooping incident that led to me and hubby holding our breath in the badly ventilated diaper changing room (who’s bright idea was that?!?). She finished all her milk, took a nap, smiled, didn’t make a fuss and altogether made life easy for me and hubby…

She has also started playing with her Fisher-Price piano that has been attached to the end of her cot for ages. She finally figured out that pushing the piano keys would yield different melodies and whenever I switch it on for her, she’ll press the keys with her fist. She does get pretty bored after awhile though…the one thing that never fails to keep her happily occupied is still her cot mobile…

Babbling has definitely increased…oh gosh, there are so many more new sounds coming out of her cute ‘lil mouth these days. And best of all, she giggled! I was bouncing her up and down on my tummy and she smiled and laughed and giggled out loud…what a wonderful sound!

And the funny story of the week? Well, dear hubby spent half an hour in the bathroom filling up Elena’s swimming tub and when it was full, we duly undressed her and brought her to the washroom before putting the float around her neck. Guess what? The darn float couldn’t fit anymore!!!! We just couldn’t get it around her neck AT ALL…   Sigh, my girl has definitely GROWN.

And as for mommy? Mommy’s going back to work so looks like updates may have to slow down for awhile…
