Elena - week 21

Wed, 17 Jun 2009, 07:03 pm

Nails nails, what to do with her nails? I try to cut ‘em straight, but that leaves a small sharp corner…and what happened? She scratched her ear…three times…and it bled. Then she scratched the side of her nose. Bled. The top of her nose. Skin peeled off. The inside of her nose. Bled. *heartbreak* I tried trimming it to the shape of her finger…ingrown fingernails pulak…sighsighsigh. Very very sum tong! The funny thing however, is that she doesn’t seem to feel the pain whenever she scratches herself…she doesn’t even cry… (err…not that I want her to…but it’s just kinda weird!)…

Other news for the week…Elena attended her first birthday party! A very good friend’s daughter just turned one and we were invited to a lovely, pink-themed birthday lunch at Lemon Garden. Elena was on her best behavior…with exception to a pooping incident that led to me and hubby holding our breath in the badly ventilated diaper changing room (who’s bright idea was that?!?). She finished all her milk, took a nap, smiled, didn’t make a fuss and altogether made life easy for me and hubby…

She has also started playing with her Fisher-Price piano that has been attached to the end of her cot for ages. She finally figured out that pushing the piano keys would yield different melodies and whenever I switch it on for her, she’ll press the keys with her fist. She does get pretty bored after awhile though…the one thing that never fails to keep her happily occupied is still her cot mobile…

Babbling has definitely increased…oh gosh, there are so many more new sounds coming out of her cute ‘lil mouth these days. And best of all, she giggled! I was bouncing her up and down on my tummy and she smiled and laughed and giggled out loud…what a wonderful sound!

And the funny story of the week? Well, dear hubby spent half an hour in the bathroom filling up Elena’s swimming tub and when it was full, we duly undressed her and brought her to the washroom before putting the float around her neck. Guess what? The darn float couldn’t fit anymore!!!! We just couldn’t get it around her neck AT ALL…   Sigh, my girl has definitely GROWN.

And as for mommy? Mommy’s going back to work so looks like updates may have to slow down for awhile…

You could try filing her nails after cutting. That’ll take the edge off the nail. :)

I love to read your blog.. More pls… she is such a cutie.. So, which cloth diaper is good? and where is the cheapest to buy?

Elena is prettier as days go by. =) and she is getting fairer.

So, you are going back to work. How’re you handling both? So, in the morning, your parents will help to take care of Elena? Don’t you find working very tiring? Stay at home to be a “siu nai nai” sounds good to me. =)

EJ: Yup, we do file her nails, but her nails are kind of ‘curvy’ as in the top sorts of juts out from the nail bed, so she still ends up scratching herself sometimes…sigh…

HC: Thanks for reading! I haven’t had the chance to try the diapers yet… …am in the midst of moving house and everything is in a mess. Cheapest to buy…hmmm…different websites have different diaper packages and prices, but generally the ones I listed on my earlier entry have pretty low prices.

Lora: Yup, have gone back to work! Well, it’s tiring, but it’s a change from staying at home the whole day. At least now I get to experience both and I can decide later whether or not to stay home or continue to work.

Something to say?
