My tummy sometimes feel like it has gone 10 rounds with Muhammad Ali…my darling girl definitely floats around my tummy like a butterfly and stings like a bee. When she’s really active, she’s REALLY active…and she seems to have been on a sugar high for the past 3 days! If she’s not squirming, she either kicking, jabbing or possibly drumming her fingers or toes…
Anyways, the doctor said it’s good that baby’s so active…
Occasionally, when I stroke my tummy, I make contact with one of her limbs as she moves around…it’s such an amazing feeling and I never fail to be amazed every time it happens! And whether it was a coincidence or not, a couple of days ago, she was tip-tapping me on one part of my stomach, and when she stopped, I tapped back. And then she tapped back. And then I tapped back. Needless to say, I was extremely amused!
I’m now quite sure that she prefers the left side of my tummy to the right coz 8 out of 10 times, she’ll be curled up on the left. Even her kicks are more concentrated towards the left vs. the right! She still doesn’t like it when I sleep on my side (particularly on my left)…one or two minutes after I turn on my left side, she’ll start kicking and kicking until I turn back. So till date, I’m still sleeping on my back most of the time (checked with the doctor, he said it’s still ok to sleep on my back).
I’ve also started playing music whenever I’m at home…and again, I don’t know if it’s a coincidence or not, but she seems to move more when I play jazz or pop songs vs. classical! Particularly to Michael Bublé…
Healthwise, I’m still taking a long time to recover if I fall sick…partly due to not taking any meds, I suppose. Tiredness is definitely ever-present, more so in the mornings. Carrying around an extra 8.5kg is no joke either…my legs get tired if I stand too long, particularly in the kitchen when I’m doing the dishes! And sigh…constipation is a bigggg problem! I’ve upped my intake of fruits and water, and am still drinking prune juice daily but doing a #2 is getting harder and harder…errr…no pun intended.
As of tomorrow, I will be entering the third trimester of my pregnancy. Another 3 more months to go, baby! I honestly can’t believe how fast time has flown…from when I first saw that +ve sign on the pregnancy test kit till now. I didn’t believe my mum previously when she told me the nine months passes very fast, but it’s true. I feel both eager and reluctant to reach the end of the pregnancy…of course I’m looking forward to holding my precious baby in my arms, but at the same time, I really really treasure the past few months of having her in my tummy. I’m sure most mommies feel the same way…
We’ve finally bought the baby cot and mattress, so that’s one load off my mind. We finally decided on the package that was being offered by Mamours (Planete Enfants) @ BSC…although to my great annoyance, about a week after we placed our orders, Babyjaya had a baby cot sale which could’ve saved us quite a bit of money. The irony was that I’d been scouting around a few shops (Planete Enfants, Babyjaya, The First Few Years, Mothercare) to compare prices before finally settling on the one that we bought. Oh well, can’t win ‘em all!
Managed to pick up some baby sundries at Robinson’s Xmas sale that started on Friday…some brands had 10% to 20% discount, plus an additional 10% if you’re a Robinson cardholder. Got some baby wipes, laundry detergent, liquid detergent to wash baby bottles as well as a grooming kit (emery boards, nail clippers, nasal aspirator, etc.). Was about to buy the baby bathtub too but only the display set was left so guess I’ll have to buy it somewhere else.
Clothes-wise, I think I’m almost done…I now have a quite a selection of long sleeved, short sleeved and sleeveless bodysuits, footed one pieces, kimono tops and pants, beanies as well as pretty pretty dresses for going out. Also bought two blankets for swaddling from Baby Gap (I love love love Baby Gap stuff!). Managed to buy some loose pants and nursing camis for myself too…Old Navy’s online shop was having a sale and some of the items were really cheap!
What’s lacking? Just some mittens, bath towels, bibs and burping clothes - I plan to get cheaper ones as these will get lost (mittens) or dirty (bibs and burping clothes) pretty fast. The bathtub, as mentioned earlier, a thermometer (any good brands to recommend?), bedding (mattress sheets and the cot bumper), a changing pad, and some other loose items like diaper cream, etc. And some other stuff for my hospital bag like disposable underwear, sanitary pads (not looking forward to this part of the birth, I must say!), a dressing gown (although I can probably use the two cotton robes I bought from Japan ages ago). Oh…and that Tiny Love cot mobile that I was eyeing.
Almost there….almost there! My bank account (and hubby!) will be very happy the day I heave a sigh of relief and say…all done… ![]()

The first time our doctor tried to do a 3D scan of our girl, she had her face facing my spine so we couldn’t get a good look. Plus her hands were curled up in fists and covering her face.
Before the next visit, I told not to face my back so that we can see her face. She complied. She turned sideways…
…so we still couldn’t see her whole face.
Before today’s visit, I told her…don’t face my back, don’t turn sideways, don’t hide your face, ok? Coz daddy and mummy wanna see you…
Well, I’ll have to give her props for being so obedient…but we were foiled yet again! Why? She faced upwards, yes…but pressed half her face against the placenta…
…and best of all, moved so much that the doctor couldn’t get a clear scan! Halfway through, she must have gotten tired of the scanning thingamajig pressing down coz she gave me a hard kick near my ribs as if to say, enough already!
And then, she lifted up her arms and covered her face…
So till date, no 3D scan yet.

…baby rivals the average rutabaga in weight — about 1 1/2 pounds. (Length: 13 1/2 inches, head to heel.)
