Sanjaya is my papaya

I didn’t make the above up, k?

I saw someone holding up a banner during the show about 2 weeks ago, and the phrase got stuck in my head. You’ve got to admit it’s catchy!

Anyways, I’m sure Simon Cowell can sleep well tonight. The world is no longer a topsy turvy place…

I’m hoping two out of the final three will be Jordin Sparks and Blake Lewis, and I’m really rooting for Jordin. She has really shown progress throughout each episode, and her performance in last night’s country theme was nothing short of superb. And she’s just so lovable and sweet!

I guess the definite shoo-in for one of the top three placings is Melinda Doolittle, and while she can really sing well, I just don’t…or rather, can’t…like her very much. That ‘fake surprise’ look after hearing the judges’s comments just drives me nuts.

I was previously rooting for Lakisha as well, but she seems to have a chip on her shoulder in the past few episodes. She doesn’t smile much, doesn’t talk much…sigh…not very charismatic, that one. As for Phil and Chris…I think Phil is boring, and Chris sounds like a more manly Fran Drescher.

Anyways, that’s just my opinion… …so don’t throw a rock at me if I accidentally dissed one of your favourites, ya?

So who are you rooting for to win this year’s Idol, assuming you’re following the show, that is?

Oh Heroes, how do I love thee…

…let me count the ways…

Who do I like the most?

Hiro Nakamura. I swear he has the best lines in the show, and his facial expressions are priceless! And how dashing he looked in the fourth episode as he strode towards Peter Petrelli, dressed all in black, carrying a sword, exclaiming…”Save the cheerleader, save the world!”

This is a really GOOD movie. Some may find it a little bit slow, but it’s very touching, and most of all, very real.

(and it makes me appreciate my job alot more… :-P )

Highly recommended, yo!

Of the 2+ hours I spent in the cinema tonight, the highlight has surely got to be the new Spiderman 3 trailer.

The movie sucked big time.

If not for hubby suggesting that we watch this movie, I would’ve probably given it a miss. The three main actors were not my particular favourite, and the storyline didn’t sound all that interesting to me…I mean, three people chasing around for a diamond in Africa?

Lucky thing he did, then.

While the movie was a tad bit long, I found it to be very riveting and DiCaprio’s performance was really good (IMHO, much better than The Departed, actually!). And what a sexy accent! :-) Djimon Hounsou, who played Solomon Vandy, was really amazing…he conveyed Vandy’s different emotions superbly throughout the movie…from the proud father who breaks down in despair and grief when he finds out his son is lost, to the overwhelming rage when he finds the person responsible for taking his son. The only character I didn’t like was Jennifer Connelly as Maddy Bowen. I felt it was a rather stereotyped “I’m a tough chick yet soft inside and I wanna change the world” character. And what’s with those bushy eyebrows?!?

It was sad to see the extreme poverty of the people in Sierra Leone depicted in the movie, and the conflict that they deal with daily. A scene that particularly stuck with me was how the young children were indoctrinated to fight with the resistance group…especially the part where young Dia Vandy was blindfolded and forced to unknowingly shoot a grown man. It was heartbreaking to know that this is the everyday lives of the people there. TIA? This is Africa? DiCaprio’s character, who said…”God left this place a long time ago”…sums it up perfectly.
