There are some…err…more senior citizens that I’ve come across who seem to think that their age entitles them to do as they please. I’ve seen it happen on and off, and I just observed two such cases today.
We were at McDs for brekkie, and while we were ordering, I saw the old man at the next counter take out a little pouch, empty all the contents - 1 cent, 5 cent, 10 cent, etc. coins AND some bits and pieces of dirt - onto the tray and stood there watching as the poor cashier had to count the coins to make up the payment for his order. I just kept on staring…I mean, surely he could show some courtesy and count his own change?
Later, I was at Bangsar Village buying nasi lemak from the kuih store near Village Grocer, and this old lady…you won’t believe what she did! First, she surveyed all the kuih displayed, asking how much is this, how much is that. Then, when the cashier was packing my food, that lady took a packet of nasi lemak, opened it up (it’s one of those that are wrapped into a pyramid shape…not easy to wrap back once you open it), SNIFFED IT, haphazardly wrapped it back and walked off.
OMG. I was looking at her with one part amusement, two parts disgust.
I just hope I never become like this when I’m that old.
